View Full Version : A Tyrant's Demise

Gorthok
09-15-2006, 11:57 AM
*Four Orcs headed into the Rest In Peace Inn, but five were headed out. The Thunder Guard of the Thunderfist Clan had come to claim their Chieftan's body. They lumbered down the stairs with Gorthok raised on their shoulders. This was not a warrior's death. This was not how he would have wanted to go. Still clutched in Gorthok's hand was a bottle of whiskey, just nearly empty. His armor stripped and tattered. His head bloody. The previous night he had gotten into quite a brawl. The shamans of the Clan said he succumbed to his wounds. Thinned blood by excessive drinking didn't help. The final straw for Gorthok's life seemed to be the quite obvious dagger in the chest. As the Orcs went through the Tavern many onlookers whispered in the corners. All had been questioned, but no one new anything.*

*For days the Thunder Guard traveled with their Chieftan's body until they reached the shores of Bladefist Bay. Once there the Guard set the Chieftan's body in a Dragon Ship, cast it out to sea, and set it ablaze. Gorthok burned in the old armor of his former army, Death Before Dishonor. As the body and boat turned to ash the entire Clan let out one last blood roar for their fallen leader.*

((/shrug. alcoholism, rough lifestyle. meh. as for you literally placing the dagger...you tell me.))

((Actually it was a short sword, but I guess with his size it would have been considered a daggar.. lol. She stabbed him in the foot, twice, bit off his fingers, and stabbed him in the liver with a short sword, so if you're basing his death off of those injuries... I'm in trouble.))

((he would have moslikely succumbed to those ...read my original about that, but the final straw was a dagger in his chest when they found him. i'm leaving it open ended))

((Oh, okay then. Well, Vilmah wouldn't stab him in his sleep, so I'm not taking credit for that.

Whether or not anyone will believe her is another story.))

Nadea sat in her home, unsure of what to think. He was just an orc, but one that she had respected. One that she...had feelings for. No longer would she be able to anticipate his returns when he ran off unexpectedly. Although she wasn't his...she still felt alone once more.
"It's for the better," she whispered to her imp, Biztik. "After all...I'm forsaken...and he...was an orc."
A tear fell from her eye as she grasped the piece of cloth from his shirt that she had picked up from the inn. No longer would she have to worry about keeping her emotions from the rest of her bretheren. He was gone.
Nadea sighed once more and tucked the piece of cloth into a box. She took the box and buried it outside of her house, so that she could no longer see it.
"Goodbye old friend," she spoke aloud, with tears in her eyes. "Rest in peace."

((oh shweeeat! this could start a nice ingame scenario, not just in /rp. So Gorthok, this mean you starting another character? Or is this a "stay tuned for the rebirth of Gorthok" kinda thing....hmm?))

((I've had a new char. After the last drunken brawl..see Vilmah's "A Bad Night" I thought it was time to end this. The dagger added an open end to it))

Even those attuned to darkness can sometimes miss what lurks within it. His body may not have been there but his ears were.

News of Gorthok's death swirled around Rayeth's head like a sandstorm. Blinding him, deafening him, but only for a moment untill the winds died down.

At first saddened he soon grew enraged at what he heard next. Nadea showed grief over Gorthok's death and she was scorned for it...

Again she succumbed to the words of her kin and she denied her cares for the orc. She said nothing of disrespect... but she showed indifference for his demise. A true disembowelment of his spirit.

Pity... but darkness will consume such weak minds in time.

R.I.P Gorthok. He came, He saw, He conquered... his drinks.

(I do believe Gor'Thok was the Lieutenant of Nazgrel that was responsible for the Observation Post destroyed by Kul Tiras and died in that battle {Recognized as the First Attack by Daelin Proudmoore that triggered the war}. Gar'thok is the Orc that is in charge of Razor Hill, also a Lieutenant of Nazgrel whom operates the Military Base. Orc names sound so familiar. Yeeesh)

Not having spent much time with the orc for months, Ellsbeth hadn't thought it strange she no longer heard from him. He often sent a note or she would run into him in passing. They had been good friends, for awhile it had seemed like it would lead to more, but his attentions were too fleeting and fickle. Ellsbeth herself was too dedicated to her studies and tomes to be able to handle an orc with a voracious appetite for women and drink.

From time to time, Gorthok would appear in her life and then disappear as battle took him further away from the safer fields of youth. So it didn't even cross her mind that this last bout of silence was a very long time. A very, very long time.

She received the news late, in a way that made her uneasy as she had discovered while she pried into a member of Infection's personal items over fear that the ...unmentionable... person was a traitor to their cause. It was where she discovered a simply written entry in a journal.

Gorthok has died. Still owes me money. He'll be missed. Will get drunk in his name.

Ellsbeth double-checked the writing and lit the paper from behind to ensure that it indeed had said 'Gorthok.'

"G's dead?" She sat down, dropping the book in her lap. "G's dead??"

She looked down at the book and then snarled, throwing it on the table in disgust. "Gorthok never owed anyone anything. Clearly this is hogwash and should be dealt with in the way of all lies. Ignored."

Her espionage done, Ellsbeth took off to afternoon mass and then afterwards did prayer service. Still, the thought niggled at her brain as a nightcrawler teases stonescale eels. Gorthok. The name continued to bother her while she tried hard to shove the doubt aside.

Finally, she decided to find out for herself. She sought out Contaminator, one of his closest friends to ask him if Gorthok had died. He would know. He would have the answer. And likely she would run into G on the way and maybe ... since things had changed in her life... maybe there'd be a chance again for something that could have happened so long ago.

He might have been a womaniser, but she knew the good heart beneath the platemail. Plus he could drink her under the table and that was a feat to say the least.

((I will find them if there is a traitor. The one I searched... is not as much as I'm aware. And yes I will go to devious and horrible methods to discover it. Perhaps there is nothing, but paranoia can be warranted.))
