The Blank Diary

I was not able to sleep that night, so I decided to go for a walk.
Putting my royal gown back on, I went to the garden.
And gently stroked my beautiful bronze drake.
"Amber, dear, please wake up."
She opened her large brown drake eyes, and I saw a slight confusion.
"I am sorry that I interrupted your dreams, but I need to get to River's Heart."
Amber paused, looking at me as if she understood.
Then she rose slowly, and I suddenly realized how much she has grown since I first met her.
She stretched out her wings, but did not screech, and put her head in my arms.
I hugged her, saying thank you.
And we head off to the waterfall.

A gentle breeze caught me, and my hair was blown away by the wind.
I looked up and saw the phoenix hatchling, fluttering her wings.
It was midnight, and the darkness was overwhelming.
Yet she was, although small, bright and full of hope.
Just like our once trusted Prince, whom was intelligent and powerful.
Whom we thought would bring justice and peace to our people.
Whom confidently promised to grant an Equal to the Sin'Dorei again, in his name.

But all that is left, is our painful memories.
As we try to live optimistically every day, the Sin'Dorei still think of him.
Not filled with hatred, but instead, flooded with sadness.
Fate was not on his side, as daddy told me when I was young.
However, somewhere in my heart, I still wanted to trust him.
I still want to, and I will. Maybe all of us would.
Regardless of his dying reputation as a prince, and as a leader.

My dear prince, may you walk in the light once more.
Like you did to save us, like you once did.
