View Full Version : Sons of Hakkar - NERFED!

For no reason that I can determine, Blizzard decided to remove the color-changing nature of the Sons of Hakkar. So from now on, when summoned by a Hunter, they will always be red.
What the hell, Blizzard? Was the color-changing thing unbalancing somehow? Got nothing better to work on?

I know, I saw that in the change log, and wept. ;_;

I think they're doing that for the LBRS worgs that change from black to brown too.

yes, as far as I could tell, they have nerfed all color changing pets in the game. I guess that was just a little too cool and unique.
on the brighter side, as far as I can tell, the ghost sabers are still transparent :D and broken tooth still kicks as much ass as her plain tan butt ever has.

And my Spiteflayer is still the most obnoxious of the pets that are actually good to use.

Hmm ... so even with all the pet patches that have gone in, Broken Tooth still has that awesome attack speed?
I may need to go retame him and level him up. I had him at level 40 or so, but dropped him in favor of cooler looking pets.

When a hunter trains a "Son of Hakkar" Wind Serpent, it USED to change colored when "summoned" or "called". Like.. sometmies it would be blue, or green, or yellow, or red.. etc, you get the point.
Well bliz hates unique things, so they nerfed it. Aka, they made it so it summons the same color every single time when the hunter calls it.
That explane it better, Chavie?

bah plainstriders > all.
TNR has two hunters now with them
Malakim, pink plainstrider named Kiwi (most alliance seem to run in terror from his pet for some reason)
Divyne, blue plainstrider named Mango (same thing as mal's pet seems to be true here).
Alliance afraid of flamingos? all signs point to yes.

I have a plainstrider named Pikwik (any Jasper Fforde fans might recognize the reference), the rare blue one from Darkshore. However, she's only level 20, and I tamed her at level 60. For the moment, she's more of a novelty pet, but I'll get around to levelling her eventually.
On another note, the LBRS worgs are still useful, since they're still the only place to get Bite 8 and Howl 4. Still need to do that myself.

i knew that but thank you. chavie and vuudu are madly in love and chavie makes a point of getting to know vuudu's pets! the confusion is over blizzard "fixing" something that was quite lovely.

Ummm... no. Plainstriders and raptors are about the worst pets available.
To each their own, I suppose. The majority of pets are normalized, only a few are uniquely impressive. Now, even fewer. *sigh*

*sniff* I miss Tempest... That Slavering Worg from SFK was my stalwart companion from 25-60. Yes, when he went Bestial Wrath it was a sight to see!
Only other pet Lupa had was a Winterspring owl, the white one. Just because.. ( named Frostbite )
Of old my first hunter on Windrunner had tamed Ravage, the rare hyena in the Blasted Lands. If Blizz ever gets around to actually giving the hyena a special ability that will be my pet of choice should I ever roll another hunter. They just look nasty.. and few folk actually own one.

What Blizzard NEEDS to do for hunters, instead of taking away the little unique things, is give us more pet-specific skills, a la Howl, Screech, Prowl, etc. Then maybe we'll see more of a variety in the kinds of pets hunters use.

Dude, the RFK Boars are the most badass looking pet evar.

ghost sabers FTW. Sadly, the stats on them suck.
When I played a hunter, I used the turtle boss from the Blackfathom Deeps as my pet all the way up to level 60. It was a worthless beast with lousy special abilities, but it was unique and I'd grown attached to it.

Kinda like how I feel about Humar. Although I don't use him all that often anymore, he's been Vuudu's pet from level 20 through 60. In fact, she never had any other pet once she got him, until she hit 60.
I am proud to say I tamed 3 of the most rare cats in the low to mid level game:
Dishu, Humar, and Broken Tooth
I really wish we could have 6 to 12 stable slots. But I can see Blizzard's fear that the Hunter class would turn into Pokemon Trainer.

Alliance are just afraid of Florida, because they know I reside there.
