Maegannon

"Gralin... wait!" Maegannon yelled across the dieing grounds of the plaguelands. Tthe voice that echoed back to her was filled with exaustion and sadness. She clicked her tongue at Koda, her riding saber, and he picked up speed, although she knew it was useless. Not even Koda could keep up with Gralin and that ram of his if he was in a mood.

And boy, was he in a mood. He had given her a grand speech about how there were two undead for every one they killed, how it was useless to attack the scourge at the ground level. It had been a wonderfuly motivating speech, and he had given it to not only her, but to thoes gathered around in Stormwind.

It had fallen on deaf ears. The shoppers and tourists and travelers just stared at him as if he was a wall-hanging. It had sent the dwarf priest into a rage, one that had eventualy gotten the two of them thrown right out of the city. Her rear still hurt from the experience.

She could see him up ahead on the path, and she yelled for him again, "GRALIN MACFAY SILVERBEARD, WILL YOU SLOW DOWN!" and gave Koda a squeeze with her legs. The Stripped Frostsaber picked up speed, but not nearly enough to catch the angry dwarf.

When they had set out from Ironforge, after gathering supplies, he had turned to her and said , "We will be attackin' that big flyin' contraption, just you and I, woman. Ferget them others who are more worried 'bout what they be wearin then what their world's becommin'! 'Sides, if I can poke Nafarious right square between them ugly eyes of his, we'll do jus' fine!"

He was losing his sanity, and she knew it. His age was catching up to him, and every part of him was slowly slipping away from her. She had always known that it would happen eventualy, that he would grow past her and begin the final decent into death.. but never did she want to believe that it was going to be this soon. He was in denial, refusing to die, refusing to even believe that his nearly 350 years ment he was nearing the end of his lifespan.

His father hadn't been much older when he died.. Mae missed him every single day. He had been a good, strong man, and he had loved her like a daughter, unlike her own father, who tossed her away the moment she didn't follow orders. He had been as brave and crazy as Gralin, and was the one to first call her by her cherished nickname.. MaeMae.

Gralin was plunging himself head, and ram, first into Plaguewood, the base of operations for the scourge, outside of Northrend that is. She took a deep breath, swallowed the lump forming in her throat, and blinked back the tears that had begun forming. She gave Koda a comforting pat and followed in behind her husband.

The undead things snarled at her as she passed, but made no move to attack. Ahead of her, Gralin was also being allowed to pass through freely, almost as if someone.. something was expecting them. The death around her disturbed her greatly, but she didn't dare yell to her husband again, fearful that it would cause the monstrosities to attack him.. or her.

She moved deeper into Scourge teriroty, she could no longer see Gralin ahead on the path. She pushed Koda to move faster still, and it was not long before she found, dismounted and waiting for her at the entrance of the undead citadel... Naxxremus.

The gate creaked, slowly opening itself. The sounds that emerged made Mae's skin crawl. She looked at Gralin, who had his faces scrunched with determination. There was no getting him to turn back, not now. A voice echoed within her mind, "Come in, Druid, come in.. I have been expecting you".

Mae began to panic, every muscle in her body screaming at her to run, run far away, and never look back. She turned and looked to Gralin. His face hadn't changed, and she knew that the whisper was ment only for her to hear. She looked down to her feet, swallowed hard, closed her eyes.

Maegannon had never been afraid of anything. She wasn't stupid, and always knew what she was getting herself into before she got herself into it.. but there was very little that truely frightened her. This, the voice in her head, the going into Kel'Thuzad's layer with out any backup.. the potental to do much more then just die.. it frightened her beyond anything she had ever experienced in her intirte life.

She opened her eyes and turned to tell Gralin that they should leave. He was gone. In fact, she was no longer standing at the gate, she was walking, walking deeper and deeper into the bowles of the ziggurat. The disgusting, crawling buggs and undead moved to the sides of every room she entered and passed. She was not to be harmed, and she knew it as well as they did.

Gralin was walking behind her, his eyes empty. She tried to talk to him, tried to make her feet stop, but she was unable. She had no controle over her own body! In front of her, the largest spider she had ever seen was opening a door, leading the way for the two to follow. She screamed, the sound echoing only in the recesses of her own mind.

Room after room, hallway after hallway, they walked, following the spider, following the orders of Kel'Thuzad, his laughter echoing in her mind at the screams she kept attempting to force out of her mouth. She tried to shapeshift, and felt her cat's tail sprout. "At at at.. we'll have none of that now", the voice whispered, and her tail retracted.

The spider opened the door that they were now standing in front of. She hadn't even noticed it, but now that she had, her level of terror had doubled. The laughter, the horrible sound in her head became real, echoing throughout the room. She was standing face to face with Kel'Thuzad, minion of the litch king.

"Welcome, Maegannon Snowfall, Wife of Gralin Silverbeard. No need to panic, my little kitten.. I'm not going to kill you, atleast not yet. You are my link to Malfurion." He, this glowing monstrosity said, laughter curling around his dusgusting face.

I don't even know Malfurion!

"I know dear.. but you will. I'm sending you into the emerald dream. You see, your husband here has been under my influence since he stepped outside Nefarion's layer that day.. he died in there, and my lord restored him with the promise of seeing you again. He did not know that we wished to get to you. You are the one needed, the one with the blood link to the stormrage brothers."

Her mind screamed over and over, crying for her husband to help, crying for anyone to hear..

"Its funny really.. your father disowned you for marrying a Dwarf, while Tirande blessed the union.. all the while, your father is the illigitmate child of Malfurion and Tirande. Thats right.. Malfurion is your grandfather. Tirande gave your father to the Snowfall family, to keep him safe from the horrors that plagued her and that retched druid... horros like my lord."

He's lieing.. lieing... he is evil and vile and disgusting and hateful and horrible and he's trying to break my will.. LIEING, lieing lieing lieing lieing...!

"You will do my bidding and bring my words to your grandfather, Maegannon.. you will be my minion, as I am the minion of my lord. Together we will do his bidding.. and you will bring the distruction of your own people"

Gralin... GRALIN HELP ME.. GRALIN, GRALIN!!

"You are no farther use to me here, go back and resume your duties untill I need you again." Gralin Silverbeard nodded and activated his harthstone, sending him instantly back to Ironforge.

"Alright my beauty, my kitten.. let us get to work"

"Dear Kurohane and the Swordwalzers,

I write this letter to you, because when I was lonely and sad, you showed me kindness and friendship. Your kindness showed me that there is still good in this world. I can never repay you for that, and I wish I had the chance to try.

My husband and I are going to be heading into the headquarters of Kel'Thuzad, Naxxremus. He is convinced that the two of us alone are a forced to be reconed with. I do not believe it, but I will not let him go alone. I fear we will not return.

Plase take care of yourself and your family. The Swordwalzers are a special breed, and my love for you all is greater then I am able to express. Do not give up the fight, no matter how bleek it may seem. Show the world what it means to truely fight for the light, for Elune.

Attatched to this letter is some personal, precious things to me, as well as what ever gold I will not need on my journey. It isn't much, but where I will be going, I will not be needing it. I also send to you Koda, my riding saber. Please, give him to someone in need of a good companion.

May Elune Guide You, my friends,

Maegannon Silverbeard"
