Changes to Social Groups

Me no likey.

What I miss:
Being able to easily get to the list of all social groups and see the last post. If it could be filtered to just the ones I belong to, fine, but the current picture only list gives me no information.
Being able to view the last post when I "enter" the group. It is now listing the first one, first which is quite old in many cases. Is there a setting to change this?

It also, when I click the "view all social groups" link, does not have the option to sort by most recent post. The list shuffles a bit when I click what looks like the link to sort by most recent post, but the dates are either incorrect or it's not actually sorting by the most recent message. I can grab a screen shot when I'm on my own computer again.

Strike that, I think I figured out my issue. Seems like it still displays them according to the most recent post, but private groups will have their date of creation displayed as the time of the most recent post if you are not a member of the group.

Sifar, if I understand your issue correctly, all you need to do to view the list is to click "View All Groups." They take up more space because of the icons, but aside from that, it seems to work the same. The threads work like the forums do, so clicking the arrow next to a thread within a social group should take you to your first unread post.

I don't have a lot to work with from an admin position.

I have added Groups - View All (http://wow-tng.org/group.php?do=grouplist) option to the Community drop down list so you can go straight to what the groups page use to be. I think I will redo the icon for groups that don't have one because a huge list of question marks is kinda ugly.

I think the new "main" page is actually helpful for people who are only interested in a few groups. I know I use to have to scroll down to find some groups if nothing had been posted to them recently before.

As far as seeing the newest post first, I think once people start posting threads instead of all of it to one big chunk, it'll be easier to get to what you want, even if it requires an extra click(s) to get there (click the latest thread(s)).

Here is how it seems to work, but maybe there are other ways?:
Community > Social Groups
View All Groups to see last posted date (optional)
Select Group to View
Select Discussion thread
Skip to final page/post

As opposed to:
Community > Social Groups
Review last post dates on all interested groups
Select Group
View last post

I see that the ability to have multiple discussions in a single group could be good, just not much in the groups I've participated in thus far.

Also, you guys probably can't create categories. I created one "RP" category. If you guys want me to create other categories, just list them here. If I have time I might go through and see if I can organize them.

Maybe a "spam your friends" category and a "hobbies" category since from a quick look that's what a lot of the groups are.
