WotLK is only days away. People have long claimed that when it arrives, role-play in WoW will get the jump start it needs. That of course depends on the players already in the game. Rather than wait for WotLK and hope for the best, there are a few things you can do to help strengthen Twisting Nether's RP environment.
The first is to visit the dreaded realm forum (http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/board.html?forumId=11440&sid=1) every now and then. Scan the first page for threads that look like introductions from new people. They usually ask questions about the server, and often ask what the RP is like. They often get trolled, and Nonek gives his usual response:
What can I say about Twisting Nether? Well I've been on this realm since it opened and I can just say one thing:
It's GREAT!
We'd love to have you join our vibrant and warm community!
I hope you're ready to RP though because this is an RPPVP realm and that means BOTH not either, if you're new to RP there are plenty of people who would love to help you get RP Savvy. We even have a whole FORUM dedicated to RP over at http://wow-tng.org/ that is run by the lovely Mortica.
Getting groups is a CINCH! Whether you're looking to get some gear in Karazhan or just want to goof around and see all those raid encounters from before Burning Crusade there's always a bunch players in the Looking For Group system.
If you do transfer here please be certain to whisper myself if you're looking to quest or do an instance but please remember that if you're speaking OOC (that stands for Out Of Character) to use "((" and "))" enclosing your message, you can just IMAGINE the mix ups that can happen without them LOL!
Which, ironically, curious role-players find helpful. What would be more helpful is if a few more sincere folks would step in with their own opinions of the server. It doesn't take long.
Another forum that the role-players of Twisting Nether tend to ignore is the World's End Tavern (http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/board.html?forumId=11125&sid=1), Blizzard's official RP forum. Maybe because we have the TNG, TN is under-represented in the larger RP community. Several new threads pop up each week asking what the best server to roll on is. To combat this, Lilam created a thread of realm reviews (http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=11963465&sid=1) so people would stop spamming the forum with questions about RP/RP-PvP servers. However, that thread reached its post limit and the information is outdated. I started another (http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=9957009429&sid=1), but so far only Carmen and I have added reviews for TN. If more role-players could visit that thread and contribute it would help.
There is another thread that could use some TN representation: Roleplaying Guilds -- Advertise Yours! (http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=12065092649&sid=1) Like the reviews of RP/RP-PvP realm, this a valuable source of information for curious role-players. Currently there are no guilds from TN advertising in that thread. I've seen <Infection> and <Tyrnea Maldeth> post recruitment threads though, which is cool of them. Other than that, much of the RP community of Twisting Nether seems cloistered on this website.
Just a few suggestions. The greater role-play community of WoW needs all the help it can get.
