Titles and RP

If I manage to come across 'Salty' Seaman I will simply stand by and applaud. Anyone who works that hard for a bit of low brow humor deserves to not be reported... for about 2 minutes.

Seriously though, what do you think the effect will be on RP? Any way you can work it in? Hmm... Elder Grisch...*snort*

I know Brox and Vilmah were working for their "Diplomat" titles...that works well in Sanctuary's context. Beyond that, if it isn't very obviously worked into the RP story, I will ignore titles.

I really want the Loremaster title because I WOULD use that for RP, but I'll likely be going with the Explorer title once Wrath is released and having that as my RP title in the meantime.

I'm actually pretty confident that I could get the Loremaster title not long after wrath is released, I'm enough of a completionist to do it. Question is getting the time to do it.

I'm not a big fan of titles. Even if I could get a simple "Captain" title I'm not sure I'd use it, even though Xara introduces herself as one. Though admittedly, a First Mate title would be cool.

But whenever I display titles they're just for fun, kind of like Fhen's gag guilds. I'll probably go back to not showing any soon, but I was happy that TS helped me get Champion of the Naaru, and now Ambassador is cool. :D

I've got the Champion title for Malethia (another shoutout to TS for the help on that one!) and that's active for RP reasons. Unless something similar or VERY in her character comes along, I don't intend to change it except for brief periods of fun.

Same as Malethia (And we got ours same night! :D ) for Cerryan. I DID get the jenkins title, and the ten of us wore it all through the rest of UBRS (for the Drakkisath achievement), but I popped it back when I got back to Org (When we turned in Ony's head after a third achievement)

Some of them are silly, some are cool, but remember, we can't just see names and titles floating above people's heads. So even if they have a silly title or whatnot, it's not something that can really be brought up IC (Unless someone does in fact just try to RP the Jenkins Family Reunion)

I don't know all the titles, but yeah, the stupid ones I would ignore (Jenkins of course) and the good ones, if properly documented in an RP sense, I would definitely take into accord. (Like if there is a Lord/Overlord one, explorer, captain, stuff like that)

Of course, I also expect role players to only have up the ones that pertain to their character, so I'd probably take it for face value because I have trust...in...my....self righteous suicide.... >_>

See I take titles on a case by case basis.

For example those who really know the characters Swiftbleid and Amoola would know that 'jenkins' would not work for Moola, but on the other hand if Swift went for it it would be completely fitting and if he wanted to RP it it could be worked as more of a 'middle' name then a title. (seriously, you have to know his past antics to get it. XD)

Now if I find a title that Amoola would accept, I'd take it an RP it. Otherwise.... pfffff... no titles for me or Amoola.

Knight-Captain forever, I think. It has the prestige of not being able to get anymore, is high enough to be an accomplishment, but low enough not to interfere with RP.

Moknim will not display a title if he gets it, but I also think that titles aren't the end-all be-all.

Like Conqueror, for example, you get for being exalted with the PvP factions. Doesn't mean jack to Moknim because, for all he knows, you were a gardener at the farm in Arathi or a lumberjack in Warsong and that is why you are well-respected. Unless he has seen your prowess, he doesn't care. The same with all the old PvP titles. He is a little more impressed by the Arena rankings because they show at least some skill because you can't /afk in Arenas and become a Gladiator.

I dunno how he will react to the new titles, since I honestly don't know what any of them are or are for.

For the sake of immense irony (or maybe not, since Kali was initially a drood), my Death Knight will be grinding Cenarion Circle and Cenarion Expedition reputations to get "Kaliera, Guardian of Cenarius".

Have 'em all planned out... though I hope I'll still be able to do 'em after Wrath. Mar is getting ambassador (since that's what he used to do), Am is getting Bloodsail admiral (since she's buddy buddy with the Bloodsail), Rehdd's getting explorer (for she traverses the lands lookingfor more ecosystems to destroy)... and that's all I can think of for now. Ban's getting one involving booze, Lorf is going for the pet one... and some day Maddy's going for the mount I think.

I'm very sad "It's Happy Hour Somewhere" doesn't give you a title... cause Ban would have it already... though... maybe Brewmaster. >_>

Personally, I'm only really interested in "The Immortal," but for my orc warrior on Elune, simply because "Rantik, the immortal" or "The Immortal Rantik" (whichever it is) sounds cool. I also don't RP on Rantik.

If I got it for Bryanah, it kind of just yells "godmoder." Though the title does reflect an actual achievement, as killing everything without a single death can be difficult even after you've done it numerous times. Admittedly, I have not experienced Naxx at 80, so take that with a grain of salt.
