View Full Version : Is TNG a role play guild?

I ask because one simple reason. I rarely *ever* see green guild text on the screen, but that ooc channel? Blazing speed constantly talking. You people are using it so much that you're using it to look for groups! If you wanna go to deadmines, ask in guild chat, role play it out! Some topics ya just can't RP out.. like your stats or something funny that you just saw outside your window and *have* to tell someone. But the majority of things can be roleplayed out, and I for one would like to see more of it.

There's always plenty of IC chat when I'm on and around. I think you're just crazy.

I think everyone's just chilling out and talking to eachother while having some fun over there.

We're all roleplayers and stuff, yeah. But the Twisting Nether Gazette forums for the most part are OOC. Since we all know eachother OOC already and enjoy talking to eachother on the forums OOC, we tend to really enjoy talking to eachother ingame too.

Hence, why we enjoy the OOC channel.

I have to concur with trilok on this one.

Some people are trying to get IC going in guild chat. I think the OOC channel is just sucking everyone in. If we keep at it, I'm sure it will pick up. After all, this is a RP server, and we're RPers, so that's what we do.

Because this is a new server, and we all finally get to be together, the OOC is buzzing. I think once we're over the shock of "OMGZ! We're 2getherz! New serverz! Pplz 2 talk 2! w00t!" We'll get back on track.

Until then, guild rp or no, I'm having a blast with random rp encounters with people I meet.

i don't really even know anyone on this forum other than my guildmates really... so i'm talking more on the OOC to kind of fix that, but i do my equal share of IC chat on the guild channel. i like face to face IC convo over guild chat IC convos though.. which might be why i don't do it that much...

That OOC channel is getting out of hand with a few people. ..... (many whom are kids who probably don't even know what the word means yet) ooh and ahh and giggle over the word "orgasm." Not appropriate topics for a chat channel like that.

Maybe we should just ban Zust from the OOC channel? mmm..

But in all honesty, if you [not necessarily YOU, Syreena, just using it as a universal pronoun, here, and I had to comment on your post beforehand] don't want to talk OOC, then don't join the OOC channel; there are already a few guildmembers who do that, including me, when I'm not in the mood for OOC chat.

If you want to get some /g chat RP going, then start some. From what I've seen, when conversations start there, they continue. The only personal problem I've had with it, is I'm usually running VC when some good RP starts.

As for looking for groups, I honestly can only recall one or two times when groups were started in /tng, and one of those was by a TNGer who did not join the guild. All other groups I've been in/started were started through /g chat.

Actually, to be fair, I probably shouldn't have said anything, since there were not really any guidelines to that OOC channel to begin with, that I'm aware of.

I got in trouble last night for saying something OOC on Guild Chat when I had no idea people were being IC during the conversation - you'd never have guessed it was rp from the chatting I saw. So either this says something about people's ability to roleplay at that time, or we're all just being way too pedantic and militaristic with the rules.

I really don't like half a dozen tells jumping down my throat for one comment (or lack of parentheses for it). Seriously, they all came within a split second of each other. No offence everyone, but don't be so inflexible with the rules. TNG is a guild with heavy and light and everything inbetween roleplayers in the mix, so be a bit more tolerant and open-minded. Lighten up. Have fun.

At 3am, I'm allowed one little mistake.

PS I've started many groups through TNG chat. Guild Chat just seems to be for sexual innuendo and dwarven accents.

Oh look.. i'm on vacation.. which means not at a wow capable computer.. and my thread is already derailed by the second page.

That doesn't speak too highly of my question...

As for what i've seen?

I've seen the dwarven stories and those rocked, but that doesn't mean there's always chatter going on. I try to start chatter, but people are too busy in the ooc channel. I've left it before and you know what? my chat screen doesn't move.. at all.. void the few thigns I try to say.

Hell once I asked the RP thing in the /tng channel
"We're an RP guild right?"
.. to which they replied "Yep" and "as far as I know"..
Me: "So why are you looking for guild groups in the ooc channel?"
Others: ....

It kinda got silent as someone else popped in that I had a point.

I'm from the grim I know what its like to have a big ol super heavy RP, i'm not asking for hardcore RP, i'm asking that I get what i rolled for on the server.. more RP. You don't have to talk OOC to get to know the person. Role play with them, after you see that they're roleplaying and such its not too hard to throw an ooc tell and start chatting. But do the OOC first?.. why go to the RP?.. too easy to shoot the sh*t.

Use the OOC to talk about thing you cannot otherwise. If you *insist* on talking about all sorts of crap.. fine, whatever. But please for the love of the game.. and for the love of roling on a ROLE PLAY server.. Roleplay it out before you OOC it out.. otherwise... what's the point?
