View Full Version : Just as bad as PvP kiddies...get off the server!

PvE carebears who don't RP.

Seriously. What the heck are they doing here? There was one of those great raids on Moonbrook today and aside from Alyss at times, I felt like I was fighting two or more on one for the majority of that fight. I'm sure that the Horde see me come up and LoL before beating the hell out of me.
That's what I felt like when I ran to Moonbrook and got mauled by five Horde while several Alliance stood around and watched.

To be honest, I'm new to the whole...druid melee thing in PvP. So I probably will suck. I'm getting the running away thing down with the flag pretty good and I'm still good at what I do best...paying attention and healing those who need healing. Still, not only was I out-leveled...which is no fault of my allies...but I'm also outnumbered? In Alliance territory? Screw that!

"They can't touch you if you're not flagged."
"I'm here to level."

Yeah. In the midst of the melee, there were still players in their teens doing quests in Moonbrook without flagging. I got plenty of people who didn't want to fight the Horde.

"They're probably here to quest or do Deadmines. It sucks to get ganked while you're doing things in hostile territory."

Hello? They're here to kill you! People that don't noticeably roleplay and also shirk away from a world PvP opportunity (which you must admit is rare of this caliber when its only low levels!) don't belong on this server. If you wanted PvE raiding only and the gear grabbin', go to a PvE server. I don't mind pure PvP players because they make great allies in battle so long as they respect RP.

My favorite "non-Rp" device happened when I first charged into Moonbrook. Seeing several Alliance gathered, I came running. (I have names turned off, by the by). Thus I failed to notice that none of them were flagged. That's right, several teens and they weren't flagging. They just watched as the Horde ran at me who showed up as red and smacked me down en masse. Then...when more alliance showed up they were like "Okay, everyone ready? Flag now!". Bleh.

The most notable thing I saw was a level 11 paladin roleplayer who still joined our raid and he apologized and said all he could really do was heal. That guy is someone I'd be proud to fight with. Fight for your side, don't be coward!

Okay, rant over. Heh.

Wow.

I completely agree. Also, I have names off, as well.. And I, too, charged into a group of Horde thinking I was going to get help.

I was mistaken. Sorely... sorely mistaken...

My poor little priestess... ;_;

I too read about this on the Blizz Venture Co. forum. I wish I could've been there! That's what RP-PvP is all about, rping the pvp, and from the accounts I've read, it was beautifully done. /applaud

Like Fhenrir, I was up for some Moonfire spamming too ...

And you brought up a point that really gets up my goat - players who don't go and help out (if it's in character for you to do so, that is) if there's another player in distress. I see it happen all the time, and no way are they all playing hard-arse loners who only look out for themselves.

I'm really tempted to go roll on a PvP or PvE server and roleplay there, then complain in the forums that everyone on that server is an elitist asshat for telling me how to play. Essentially, it's the same thing as non-roleplayers defending their lack of roleplay on a roleplay server. If you don't wanna roleplay, go roll on a non-fucking-roleplay server. Gods know there are enough of them. But the horse turned to dust long ago, and I should just shut up with the negativity and focus on the positive ...

... and the positive is, the Moonbrook event was RP-PvP poetry in motion. /cheer :D

I'm sorry now that I missed that!.. I was deep inside the Jangolore Mine at the time, along with a half dozen other gnome warlocks with Voidwalkers out. It was a gnome 'lock fest!

I would have certainly come to your aid Dhur..

I absolutely agree. The reason I moved to a PvP server in the first place was for a love of world PvP, and I can't stand the thought of being amoung people who only want to PvE.

But if it makes you feel better, the exact thing has happened to me and my bf on TN in Westfall, and the same thing happened to us on our old PVP server, Altar of Storms. I would personally like to see auto flagging in friendly territory with the possible excepetion of the newbie zone, but then again, I am an advocate of open PvP within and without faction.

I love you. Well, not really. But I love your ideas. :D

Me too. I wish there was a server where we were all flagged all the time, could attack our own faction, and loot the gear from the fallen. That would be tons of fun....

It's called Conquer.

http://www.conqueronline.com/

It's free.

Ten minutes into it though, you'll be running screaming back to WoW.

Ick, ugh, HORRIBLE!! I actually played it before I played WoW, and got bored with it FAST. It's "free" because the only way to stay competitive in that game and not get killed every two minutes is to purchase dragonballs from the game to keep upgrading your equipment. I know someone who spent about $100/month (probably more) to stay one of the top toons in that game.

Their main event is "Guild Wars" each weekend where the guilds go to a special area and attack...an inanimate pole. Whoever owns the pole at the end of the event is the winning guild.

That is why you need to have serious consequences for killing someone on the same faction. It would be like a murder. Wow has the potential to have something like this (we all have Stormwind, Ironforge and Darnassian faction and respective Horde factions). Say, a Dwarf killing another Dwarf would give you a serious faction hit on Ironforge faction. Serious enough to make a difference. Ultimately you could be attackable by guards in Ironforge. There is also a potential for faction switching, but that is seriously complicated and I don't ever forsee Orcs running around Stormwind, unless they are raiding it :P

None of this would really happen. But I would like to think one day we could have open PvP servers like EQ did.

Hmmmm uh no offence but they arent required to help you. I can understand being upset they didnt help you, even IC getting mad and telling them off IC (apparently I gave pythre that treatment on a horde alt once on tn), but OOC saying they should be booted off the server? Seems a bit extreme to me wether they were RP'ing or not.

Dhurandal

Meh. I understand if they're the type that simply want to be left alone and quest, but don't get on the channels and say "They can't harm you if you're not flagged, stupid." I fought earlier today again, still got people who responded with that to all the reports on local defense calling for help.

If you're not interested in PvP those Local Defense cries obviously aren't for you! It just points out that you don't belong on this server because you don't understand that people come here for RP-PvP. Some of these people might be roleplayers, but I doubt a roleplayer would question rallying cries (some in character) against the Horde. Some of these people might be PvPer's, but they're carebear PvPer's that only do it when it is to their advantage levelwise and situation wise.

Heh. It's a bit extreme, but it is just a rant.

Personally, I don't give a shit if opposing faction are in my zone, if I'm in the mood, I'll attack. But if I'm not, I'm going to just continue questing. Should I be booted off the server if I decide not to retaliate?

Dhurandal

Well, I've been ranting because I get irked. The position is fairly harsh, but it was how I felt at the time because it just bothered me to hear it. I'm not really that much of an extremist.

The examples I've pointed out as most bothersome are the ones who tell people that they don't have to flag. Most people on this server know that, right? I'm well aware that if I don't flag, I don't get killed. Most people who go to fight the Horde know that too. When people say that on the Local Defense channel...I want to slap them.

It's like the PvPer's. I'm fine with them being on the server, just don't say anything about RP. I'm fine with people who don't want to world PvP, just don't say anything about it like people who do play world PvP don't know what they're doing! A lot of people roll on RP-PvP because they want that world PvP action, shut up and let us have it and ignore the Local Defense calls for help. It's not like we're spamming it with information for no reason.

I was in Westfall earlier, and an undead rogue 6 levels higher than me killed the Defias Traitor while Alliance were trying to complete the escort quest. He then proceeded to butcher the entire group of people escorting the traitor, as they were all 10 levels lower than him. Knowing I probably wouldn't make a difference, I tried to heal the warrior in the group, which flagged me. The rogue finished off the warrior, and then came for me. He took me out, carving through my shield and killing me, and resisting my fear effect.

No big deal. But then I got back to my body, and there he was, killing another group....and another traitor. I rezzed with no buffs, threw a DOT on him and then promptly died again. Luckily Pythre showed up a few minutes later and dispatched the moron.

My question and comment isn't about flagging up and defending your territory or anything like that. My question is this:

Do the horde have an escort quest in the mid teens anywhere at all?

I'd really like to know this, because if they do, its time to take the fight to these guys. On TN the horde do this 'killing the traitor' thing every day. I want to know what we can do on VC to combat this, or give some payback.

Fhen, Shadowspeak, Abric...any of you horde experts...Throw us a bone and tell us how to hurt these bastards. And then lets do it. Lets organize and drive them nuts.

I'm only asking this because I've never played a horde past level 10, and I have no clue as to what we can do.

Hope to hear some good ideas! You guys are awesome!!!

:D :D :D

Escort? Hm... there are two in Ashenvale. One at the coast, where you take an orc shaman to a little island where he summons a hydra.

Then there's the one where you attack Silverwing Outpost - but that's been broken for a long time... and honestly, I think they removed it.

There is also one in Stonetalon, where you escort a moo cow - also broken... and been broken since I've played Abric (which has almost been a year.)

Errrrrrrrrrr. There really are none as 'vital' or as easy as the Van Cleef chain when it comes to possible frustrating ganking. I think it's a little cheesy, but just goes to show you what sort of folk do that.

There is one of similar level in the barrens where you escort a high elf out of the large keep there. It is a very frustrating quest because he moves so slowly, and says things like "Hurry up" to you. It is not as vital as the messenger, but the escort is long and slow... hope that helps.

I lvoe that guy!! I like how he goes OUT OF HIS WAY to attack pirates, then goes "Help! I'm under attack!!"

I completed these both quite recently on my Troll on Altar of Storms, I suspect they have now been fixed.

yeah..that one from northwatch hold is a pita.. usually done by groups approximately level 16-20ish.

That one would be my vote, since it's fairly easy to hide either up in the hills or in the water while you wait for some suckers ;)

Although it's not such a crucial quest that if you just sat at the place he spawns and killed him all day that it would really piss off that many Hordelings.

I skip that quest probably 50/50 of my characters. As opposed to the messenger guy, which so far I've done on all my alliance alts.

Fhenrir
07-19-2006, 02:22 PM
Yeah, that quest to escort the high elf is easily skippable.

What you could do is level to 60 and fly out to the Crossroads all day every day with the new Alliance flight path in Horde territory.

Seriously, what the fuck was Blizzard thinking? There's an Alliance flightpath in Ratchet. That means you can fly right out to an easy town to completely dominate over with two level 60's. :?

I just recently did this one on an alternate, and it worked fine for me.

The quests also worked for me way back when I did them on kark. Only I had to do it more than once because the first few times it was bugged. Seemed like it just randomly decided to work sooner or later.
