I dont really consider this a flame, so bare with me. I read your post about no OOC in warcarft, because GM's are going to crack down on that kinda stuff? While I do agree I'd like to see more serious approaches to RP enforcement, I dont think enforcing everything left and right is the way to do things.
I do my own share of RP, yes, but reporting for all ooc activity? Bit aqward, in my opinion. I think getting people like Goku2000 off our server is a definite plan, but reporting people for ooc conversation? I get on the game to relax...sometimes RP, sometimes OOC. Do you think there could be a better way to settle things as opposed to simply reporting a lot? Griefers as a whole is one thing, but anyone speaking ooc?

Sanrin, the rules for no OOC chat only apply to the /s and /y channels, and to the party chat channel if everyone agrees on it. These are public channels meant to be in character.
I don't want to be sitting somewhere roleplaying and have someone come running up and say: "lol gimme gold plz" or "r u n00bs q for bg?"
It totally breaks immersion, and it's the reason for the no OOC in /s and /y channels. If you need to say something to someone OOC, do so in a whisper. You can also make your own channels for discussion of anything you feel like, and anyone who you want can join.
So no, people who use OOC in /s and /y get a warning from me, followed by a report.

lol gimmiegolz is horrid, i agree. But id never report someone for a conversation such as "how long ya been out of game for?" "not too long, been afk for bla bla bla" If i pop by someone in SW real quick i dont wanna bring it to tells, or chat channels for a really fast "hi, how are ya?". i got enough tells and channels going by to make more for five minute conversations. It just seems a bit anal to instareport.

I have to agree completely with everything you said Sanrin. Not much else to say.

I'd agree to some extent. But if you're OOC in /say or /yell, (( use the brackets punk! ))

I'll let it slide if someone uses brackets. Sometimes you need to talk to more than one person about something and you're not in a party. Also if you know the person, and you're not standing in a public place, feel free.
It's the idiots that blab OOC stuff all over the zone with /y and come barreling through your group who's rping talking garbage in /s that annoy me.
They get a warning via tell, and then are reported if they do it once more.
People who show considderation to others in this game should rarely, if ever run afoul of the rules.

(( punk brackets sounds good to me, but i wish zut would post here eventually, im curious to see what he was thinking. lol ))
I have rarely reported for OOC talk as I have passed like the LOL and stuff like that cause I know what they are trying to do. It would be just as easy to put a /lol and get the same effect but *shrug* oh well. What I have reported and it's been in the past week was someone that was yelling in IF a 'Rofflecopter' that took up 8 lines and made a helicopter. While it's neat that you can do that, I don't want to be seeing it yelled across the city. I also reported someone that was standing on the bridge telling people to go to some buy gold wow site to buy gold. He sat there for 5 minutes spamming to go get gold every ten seconds. Those are the ones that I don't have a problem reporting.

That sounds a lot better then what i thought you were getting at, which was to go after everyone. Kinda sounded like an attack on everyone who wasnt a hardcore rp'er, which isnt really what this server is all about ya know?

Honestly dont take this wrong guys but uh.... half of you are being considerably too anal. There will always be someone ooc in say and yell. Nothing you or blizzard does will stop it. They are not going to ban people for saying "hey did you see that mets game last night?" in say in ironforge on a rp server without brackets. If they do ban someone for that, they deserve the gigantic wave of shit that will hit them and the mass quits they see from players.
Someone talking in leet speak and offering cybor in say should be reported, but not because they are ooc on an rp server. They should also be reported with intelligence and maturity, not threats and dick waving.

I'm one of the anal people.
I'd love to see folks get banned for talking about the Mets game in /s . Given the option, I'd ban people for using (( bracketed OOC )) in /s.
I don't even like the existence of OOC channels. It's just not that hard to RP, especially if your spelling is good and you have an extensive vocabulary.
If there was just one Mecca... one RP-PvP server with strict RP enforcement, I'd love this game so much more.

You don't even have to have that. Hell, it might be better to be grammatically challenged, depending on what type of character you're playing.

Personally, I tend to shrug it off. I discovered that it punishes a non-RPer more if I continue to RP than if I report them. I do, however, keep a mental note of guilds with non-RPers or RP griefers.
Teo of the big guilds on my list right now are Echelon (no explaination needed), and NME (I RPed during a run in ZF and they made the comment "Ugh.. RPers...")
Really, the only good (seeming) guild is Citadel... but Tarkor would never join someone else's guild! (Despite the vast number of annoying recruiters out there trying to get their hands on a blacksmithing 53 warrior...)

I'm one of those anal people too. Take it to tells please. /s is for RP. I don't play RP games on RP servers to talk about sports, or the Pirate movie, or who dumped their significant other. I shut off my ooc channels. Please feel free to use any ooc channel or private tells amongst yourselves to ooc to your hearts content. I don't want to hear it in Barren's chat. I don't want to hear it in /say nor in /shout. Anyone that's using public RP channel on an RP server is going to immediately get put on my ignore list. If you want to loosen up and not RP and chat with friends, cool, but do it in your own space and channels and don't force the rest of us to listen to it and mess up everyone else's immersion because you feel the need to talk about the friggin Mets game. Because you know what, ooc is HIGHLY contagious. You start talking ooc, then 50 people are all ooc, then it's every night and no one is RPing in /say in Ironforge anymore. You have to set limits, places where things are and are not acceptable. This is an RP server, and there have to be places set aside where RP is sacred and kept true. That's /say and /shout. Just give us /say and /shout and take your ooc to your guild chat if that's allowed or where ever else you can ooc, but don't force it on us because that's EXACTLY how the RP starts to degenerate.
Yes, I will be an asshat about this. I don't beleive in banning people left and right, but I do, completely believe in keeping /say and /shout RP becaus when you don't the game degenerates and very quickly that 'just a few ooc comments" becomes every single friggin night of Chuck Norris discussion because that ooc got contagious.
I am a bit new to the RP style game play. I was primarily on a PVE server and decided to try RP-PVP out. In MPO I enjoy RP better and it is a bit unsettleing when you are deep in your character and the world around and someone /s can anyone help me with my router it seems to be causing my computer to D/C!
Talk about a mood killer.

Or when you're in a battleground and everyone's shouting "lol own3ed n00bz!"...
I haven't been in a battleground since I got my mount...
