That wotlk lore won't be as garbage as BC lore.

Of course as of now it looks amazing.

I thought this was a complaint about the /pray command in WoW. You'll notice if you don't have a target it says:

Sowell prays to the Gods.

Well, what if I don't believe in multiple gods? Or favor just one? Or believe in the light?

Boo!

How many races in WoW worship a plurality of gods?

Bwuh?

Humans -> Light,
Dwarves -> Titans,
Gnomes -> None?
Night Elves -> Elune,
Draenei -> Light and the Elements (Neither of which are gods but forces.)

Forsaken -> None?
Tauren -> Elements/spirits,
Blood Elves -> Light for some?
Trolls -> Loa (Yeah, I guess those are multiple gods)
Orcs -> Spirits/Elements.

Hey! Try tapping your foot if you are Tauren! :P

Seriously, would it really be that hard to make it so that the emote suits the characters race/class?

It's interesting that the gods (read: parents) in this setting are either absentee (Titans), distant (Elune), or abstract (Light). Mythology for the latchkey generation?

It's Blizzard's way of having mythology connected to religion, without the hassle of offending people with (albeit fake) religions that are not or do not resemble their own/who don't believe in religion at all.

Why? Because people will take any reason to be offended and roll with it. Just take a look at all the groups that blew a gasket over the Harry Potter books because they contained 'magic' and that was somehow an affront/devil worshiping to their religion.

That's probably why you have to scour the game to find lore and learn about the myths of Azeroth (The various books in places like Scarlet Monastary, Scholomance, the inns of the different cities...) and why quests about the lore are so annoyingly vague and never give any definitive answers.

The Forsaken pretty much have Sylvanas as their 'God' figure... "Dark Lady watch over you", anyone?

Blood Elves have a big focus on the Sun (Since Elune was the moon, the highborne probably just changed that to separate themselves from the night elves, and eventually came to forget about why they changed all that) and their ruler being a "Sun King"... Much like how people of Egypt thought their Pharaohs were descendants of the Sun God and thus living Gods themselves.

Tauren worship the Earthmother... though it's up in the air on what she actually is. Whether the Earthmother is Elune, Ysera, one of the Titans, another force all together, or just a perceived presence. They also pay homage to other 'demigod' like figures, as they acknowledge that Cenarius is the child of Elune (they call her by another name, and say her brother was the sun, whom she chased across the sky) and that giant white stag 'God' that their lore states that they hunted (as they hunt all beasts) until he took refuge in the sky when Elune saved him.

Orcs have a religious tendency towards worshiping ancestors, particularly those who were great warriors and fell valiantly in some kind of battle, or who had a long line of victories and conquests in their lifetime. It's something like a mix of Shintoism and the Nordic religion where great warriors who died were celebrated and considered to have ascended to a heaven of sorts where their warrior life lives on.

*excited bounce* Finally, all my research in Forsaken religion pays off!

http://www.wowwiki.com/Forgotten_Shadow Pyrisath is part of this cult, and some Forsaken still hold faith in the Light(Argent Dawn). A few undead are demon based(Varimathris' undead).

*end excited bounce*
