Thought popped into my head when I was in my 'thinking area' (jacuzzi). What if we all had a specific night of the month where we all show up to Gurubashi and fight someone you really want to fight! Plus seeing as its an arena it would be a good place to sit around and spectate, although there would likely need to be guards from both factions to discourage trouble. I realize it might be a bit of a problem RPwise as many of our characters would not wish to participate in such a thing, but with a few extra heads working with my elnightened one I'm sure something could be worked out. Just something from my thinking area.

Seeing how i ahve my full Gladiator set (minus the gloves), this sounds interesting :P And if its a real tournament, I dont see the problem Rp-wise, who does not want to prove his guild/faction/trace to be the strongest :P Well a few people I suppose...

Facinating concept. But aren't all who enter the arena open to attack from any one? I would pitty the person who comes to start trouble with us all there... :P

Oooh Our own Fight Club? I'm in.
Could be where an admission fee is charged to watch and the winning gold goes to the winning Gladiator on both sides. Could even set it up by season ranges so that there are winners at each season range?? Could have three days of fighting. Night one Alliance fights to determine Alliance winners in ranges. Night two Horde fights to do the same and then on the third night Horde vs. Alliance in their respective ranges.

That is...highly interesting. There -would- be folks asking for trouble, but maybe we could have guard-rogues (and druids) stationed outside to keep the riff-raff out. Pounce, shred, on with the show and whatnot.

Ah, well, back when the server was young, we had an event like this, and about 30 or 40 Alliance and Horde turned out. The idea was great, but about 10 of the people present kept attacking people in the stands and rogues were picking off the lowbies and the event broke up after about 30 minutes. Might be hard to have a good turnout of RP’ers and keep the asshats away.
I was interested in setting up a fighting circuit that featured brutal deathmatches in scenic locations throughout the world for fabulous cash and prizes, but as Huffy mentioned, there's no way to pull it off without everything quickly devolving into a chaotic murderfest. I wish there was a way to close th door on the Gadgetzan fighting cage and ensure that it didn't open until "two go in, one comes out."

Though its a smaller door to guard, anyone who tries to stealth through would get mauled.

Guarding the event would definetly be a challenge and so it would take a great deal of cooperation amung the Alliance and Horde, however I have faith that we could pull it off. We would have to have a certain number of guards sign up beforehand, preferably hunters and rogues. I'd estimate six would be the minimum, four to take the entrance with two patrolling the area.

Sounds good to me, I can even make the nether council vent available for cross faction communication that doesnt require an alt tab if anyone wants to try it.

One thing that must be said is that I don't have time to host/organize this. My game time is getting cut down dramatically, but I figured I'd share the idea so you could try to get it up.

I agree with this idea. The rule would be, that if you are in the stands, you aren't fighting. It'll be hard to police it, but I'd love to be getting my butt kicked in the arena while Karkarov throws food at me from the bleachers. hehe.

I give this idea my blessing..
...and hope to get Hroth and/or Demorius in the ring at some point..

I'd do it.
Count me in! I don't hate anyone enough to fight yet, but I'd sure as hell enjoy the skull bashing guard position!

I'm sure there can be a rotation of guards. Thus even the guard types can do combat. If there's a level range for the combatants, I'm all for hopping in the ring!
Also, I'm fine with aiding in guard duty. Nothing like buffed bodyguards with a healer in case someone decides to start something.
In fact, I'm all for having priests as guards. Why? With the fire support, I'm sure they can cast Mind Control on the offending party. Then its all about letting his own faction beat him down for trying to ruin the event.

Good point, Dhurandal. In fact, they could also be used to ressurect our fallen combatants.
Also, I had another idea in the showe.... er thinking area. To start off each
'finals' (both faction) session, why not have a 10 man free for all?

Depending on when this is, y'all know I'd love to take part.
*watches people start leaving*
...What? ...Was it something I said?

I think we'd have more trouble with griefing guilds than with individuals trying to ruin the event. I could easily see Just Pro or Echelon tearing through the event if they got wind of it.
What'd be best is if they arrived at the same time, and killed eachother off. >.>

Now THAT would be a beautiful sight...maybe we should just advertise the event and then notify them. Then we could sell tickets, and Kai snowballs, to the event. They show up, whack each other, and then we gank the winners.
Kills all birds with one event...
