Walking Alone

A dirty wind blew through the Crossroads as the late afternoon sun bore down on them. People were coming and going on various adventures and journeys, and so was he.
His boots were dusty from the long walk. His large brimmed black hat sat low on his brow. He towed a fine skeletal warhorse but opted to stop riding it for a while and just walk. Somehow the walking took his mind off of his ailment this day, but not by much. At least it gave his body something to do. When he rode Griever his mind would wonder and he thought of her.

But it seemed no matter what he did, he would still come back to thinking about her. She was never far from his mind. And this was both a blessing and a curse. And oh how he missed her. He would trade in all of his thoughts just to see her and hear her voice; for it had been so long.

Sadye was a free spirit, she always had been and that was one of the things he loved about her. But it had been almost a month and a half since he had received any correspondence from her and he found that unnerving. For the last few days he had travelled the places he knew she would frequent; trying to run into her or hear any word of her but he discovered neither.

Shadowdane’s dark eyes viewed the horizon of the barrens. He would travel north toward Durotar and board the Zeppelin back to the Eastern Kingdoms. He would try the city of Silvermoon and call it a night if he did not find her there.

By the time Shadowdane arrived at the Court of the Sun he had remounted Griever. Sometimes the great walls and corridors of Silvermoon made him dizzy, that and he was finally beginning to get tired from his travels.
He searched the city and then rode out past the Shepherd’s Gate, north to Sunstrider Isle. As he was travelling a bright glow caught his attention past the Shrine of Dath’ Remar.

Shadowdane guided Griever up a grassy trail and came to a large rock overlooking the great North Sea. The horizon was filled with the setting sun and the sky was ablaze with bright oranges and yellows. The sea rolled in shades of pink and the coastal trees glowed gold in the ends of the day.
Shadowdane stood on the rock taking in the breathtaking sight. He closed his eyes and felt the wind come up from the sea. This was a good moment an almost perfect moment. There was just one thing missing.

Shadowdane retrieved some paper and a writing quill from his saddle bags. He plopped himself down on the rock and began to think. He would write to her. He would tell Sadye how much he missed her and attempt to describe this beautiful scene to her. But where to begin? Shadowdane thought for a moment and then decided he wouldn’t write her a letter but a poem instead. When he was alive he was pretty good at it and it had been so long since he really had a reason to to be inspired. But she would be his muse. So he began to write.

Thinking of You

The sun is almost gone with the day
Now the land has grown dark and gray

So here I am sitting, staring at the moon
Hoping that I will be able to see you soon

I sit under the star filled sky, wondering where you are
Hoping you’re thinking of me, looking at your own star

In the lonely silence, I wish you were here with me
In the darkness, I wish you were here to help me see

My heart is crying out for you to hear
A loud sad sobbing, wishing you were near

Near for me to touch and see
Near so together we could be

But I’ll have to look up at my star
Just to wonder where you are

And Pray that far beyond the eye can see
You’re sitting watching your stars, thinking of me

Shadowdane put his quill down and reread his poem. It was good, it would do. He would mail it to her when he passed back through Silvermoon.
