Yemana

She slept, and dreamed.

Creatures of hoof and of paw - these are Her children. Yemana bows low before the Great Bear Spirit and is shown His way. Shambling gait, thick hide, rounded body. She protects her cubs from danger, from pink-skins and long-ears, from their fatling allies. Mu'sha smiles gently over the mother and her young.

Creatures of fin and of silvery scale - these are Her children. Yemana bows low before the Spirits of the rivers and lakes, and is shown Their ways. She flashes through the water with a speed that belies her heavy bulk, and twilight falls over the world.

Creatures of fang and of claw - these are Her children. Yemana bows low before the Great Lioness and is shown Her way. Lithe and deadly, her hunt takes her across the plains and the deserts, and her paws leave bloody prints in the sand. By the time you see her black eyes watching you, it is too late. An'she burns her back with His glare.

Creatures of wing and of talon - these are Her children. Shaking, Yemana bows low before Brother Eagle, but the bird regards her with sharp eyes and says nothing. She feels the winds tug at her manetails, inviting her, calling her, commanding her. Heavy words fall from her mouth, words that Eagle cannot understand. He cries disapprovingly at her and spreads his wings, and at the motion the shu'halo is lifted into the air and dashed against the canyonside.

An'she opens His eye over Darkcloud Pinnacle. Brother Eagle cries for the loss of His sister, and Mu'sha begins chasing the Eye of Day to the other side of the world once more.
