A friend of mine I work with (she's a concept artist) did these in her spare time. Thought you guys might like them.

Beautiful stuff! In the wrong section though, I'm afraid.

Crud, there's a fanart section?

EDIT: Gah, how did I miss that? Would a mod move this and spare me some embarrassment please?

I've seen your friend's work before, had one of her images for an icon, which I planned to reuse once certain story elements are resolved. She's very good.

Mortica or one of the mods will move it, no worries. :)

And... does she do art for a publisher? I've seen that Illidan picture and I think a couple of others before.

Either way though, very nice stuff. I especially like the dragon one.

I believe those were up on the Blizzard site as fanart, may be where you've seen them.

That one pic she made of a blood elf is like...godly.

Honestly, once I asked her if she'd do a commission.

Yep, I remember seeing several of these as fanart contest winners before.

Wow, they're beautiful! Her work really reminds me of Yoshitaka Amano's work (tell her I said that for me, I think she'll know who he is ; ) )

Also, I love her desktop, and I downloaded the Felsteed of Xoroth to use as a desktop. Wonderful!

you're joking right?

Because that statement is ignorant.
Amano's art is comprised of long, single strokes, and has an abundance of femininity in everything. He couldn't draw a man with masculinity if it would save his life.

What company do you two work for?

*while asking question, smacks Raz upside the head*

It's an insult to the artist here, which obviously takes a lot of influence from classic Final Fantasy Concept artistry that can be shown modernized in the Tactics Strategy Games nowadays and the WC3 Concept Artist Samwise, than a limp-wristed blockhead like Yoshitaku Amano, who has no concept of muscle definition.

Because art always has to be perfectly realistic and anatomically correct. ALWAYS.

The Orc one is fucking awesome.

Of course, Emmons.

Oh, I do protest that your avatar is an insult to the artist as well, because it's a robot, and robots do not exist in the form of mechanized battle suites.

It has nothing to do with what is right or wrong in art. It was about making proper correlations with styles of other artists.

Take Yoshitaka Amano's Cover art for the 8th Vampire Hunter D Book, Journery to the North Sea pt 2 (It was pretty good I guess)
http://images.darkhorse.com/covers/300/14/14161.jpg

You can see the long strokes, and the rampant femininity running through the character just from the eccentricity of the lips. The colors are almost used sloppily. There's no muscle definition in the character at all. In all his works, beings are lithe pale creatures with full lips, even the male ones.

Compare that with any of the five pieces shown and you won't find any similiarities. Go ahead and look at his whole works and try to prove me wrong.

Compare the Kodo Riding Sketch to some of the TActics Art here (http://www.ffcompendium.com/h/fftcharacterszb.shtml). There's a great similiarity in both form and color scheme.

You're close, but shamefully far of actually critiqueing something.

Don't worry little one, you'll learn.

Actually I like the sort of feel you get from the "brush strokes" if you want to call them that. I love it when you can see the individual strokes in a piece. It's sort of like looking at an actual painting where the texture of both the canvas, gesso and the build up of the paint actually lend to the piece itself. It's one of the same things I love in Jeedup's work and the pieces here kind of remind me of both Jeeds' stuff and for some reason Brian Froud or the Stephanie Pui-Mun Law's watercolors.

I love her color theory too. She maintains a similar color family all throughout and her transitions are fantastic. I think I'm going to have to put her on my watch list.

Since you very obviously hate Amano but liked the posted works you would probably have a very hard time seeing what I meant. No I don't particularly feel the need to find a million Amano pictures to prove my point (even tho I suspect I've had a fair larger sampling of his works than you have,) nor do I feel the need to argue this with you. Your opinion is different. *shrug*

BTW Amano did a LARGE amount of the FF concept artwork up to VIII IIRC, but still occasionally does pieces for the games.

Yoshitaka Amano is a god. His art is too damn good for things like anatomy and muscle definition.

Actually, I believe it's something they call style.

LARGE IMAGEZZZ!!!1111

To be honest, I fucking love his art--

A sort of different style for him, isn't it?

HE REMAINS GIRLY EVEN NOT BEING DRAWN BY YOSHITAKA AMANO!

Bir

And wait? NOT SO GIRLY? Yoshitaka drew it?!
