View Full Version : What music do you rally to?

This might be in the wrong forum... but the subject is what kind of music you listen to while you pwn noobs or mobs or whatever.

Personally, I find that nothing gets me in the killing spirit quite like some good Death Metal or Viking Metal. Amon Amarth, Heaven Shall Burn, and Mastodon are all bands I would recommend for purposes of WoW rallying.

Well?

Industrial or industrial rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Industrial_rock), especially Pigface, Nine Inch Nails, and Rammstein. VNV Nation as well, but they're EBM (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_body_music) or something.

Eh? It's a WoW-related discussion. It's fine here.

My PvP playlist is dominated by: Danko Jones, She Wants Revenge, Arctic Monkeys, Life of Agony, and Wolfmother.

That works for all my characters except 'Brig. PvP with 'Brig requires creatures like Dean Martin and Rachmaninoff.

Hahaha, another she wants revenge fan.... awesome!

Arch enemy, Tool, Queens of the Stoneage, sometimes lamb of God if I feel like it, and Black Sabbath.

I Pigface, g.

LOVE Pigface. My brother got me into them a while back.

Very few know about them because of A: Their chaotic members and B: their age.

Orchestral or classical, normally. Sometimes, even epics.

Halo soundtrack and/or the Portal Soundtrack.

I listen to "Still Alive" on repeat when I'm PvPing simply because it's appropriate.

EDIT: Stupid campus lag making me double post.

Anything by Mindless Self Indulgence, Rammstein, Lordi, Powerman 5000, Stabbing Westward, Lords of Acid...

The song "Reload" comes to mind, but for some reason I listen to "He-Man" by the Bondage Faeries when I'm PVPing a lot o.O Lots of German industrial...

Gladiator, 300, Kingdom of Heaven, King Arthur, Batman Begins, The Last Samurai, Troy, Passion of the Christ... really just movie soundtracks.

If I'm feeling gritty I like 90s hardcore rap. Wu-Tang, Biggie, Mobb Deep, M.O.P., Nas, etc.

I don't really pick what I'm listening to based on what I'm doing, but Muse, QOTSA, the Arctic Monkeys, the Dirty Pretty Things, etc. seem to fit the action stuff better.

This is probably more appropriate for MY pvp experiences though. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBdeCxJmcAo&feature=related)

Online radio if I'm listening to music. http://www.streamingsoundtracks.com

I'm like Grev I think. The majority of CDs I own are soundtracks to a movie, tv show, or that kind of thing.

Mastodon

I have the biggest fucking obsession with these dudes, and I don't know why--I don't normally dig metal that much. I cannot get enough of Mastodon though. I think it's 'cause they wrote an album about Moby Dick. As far as other metal on my iPod--and I do dig the metal when I need to get pumped--I like Disfear, Minor Times and though they're probably only marginally metal, The Austerity Program and Pelican.

Otherwise it's pumped-up pop like Pretty Girls Make Graves and Jon Spencer Blues Explosion.

A whole lot of crap, mostly. Depends on where the noobs are I'm pwning.

From calming ambient techno to screamo.

Can't get through EoTS without something loud.

Calming music is for waiting for them to get back to their corpse. Been doing this on my priest a lot.

I was too busy watching Machine Head to see Mastadon, but you didn't miss anything with Dragonforce...they sound like poop live.

I disagree, I saw them at the 9:30 Club in DC and they were magnificent. I sqealed like a fangirl almost as much as I did when I saw Sonata Arctica.

Mahler. Always Mahler when I'm kicking ass. Nothing can compare to the virtuosity that is Mahler.

Sometimes it's the Beatles though.... >.> Don't judge.

For knowing Pelican, you receive one high five. I have a pretty good-sized raging boner for prog and post-metal.

If you like Mastodon, and you like Pelican, you HAVE to listen to Baroness. It's sludgy, proggy, post-metally goodness.

Seriously. You won't regret it.

LOVE Pigface. My brother got me into them a while back.

Very few know about them because of A: Their chaotic members and B: their age.

And Martin and co. always put on an AWESOME stage show. I've seen them a few times now.

If I'm listening to music, I usually select my players "all" playlist and hit the random button. Varies from Y Kant Tori Read to Maschinenfest 2003 to Nick Cave to Dir En Gray to In Flames to Zeromancer and many stops in between.

Either shamelessly bad 80s hits or disney showtunes, really.

Although lately I've been jamming to some good old videogame soundtracks; oldschool shit like Contra 3, Megaman X, Area 88 (UN Squadron) and the most bestest videogame soundtrack of all time: Mechwarrior 2.

When I saw Dragonforce live in '06 I thought they were terrible.

Whatever comes on random on the iTunes shuffle setting.

Nothing like "hulking up" in an AV to the tune of ABBA.

For consoling gaming, if there's a nasty boss or something I can't quite manage to beat, there's only one solution: Natural Born Killaz by Dr. Dre & Ice Cube. It's what got me over the hump when fighting Phantom Ganon in Ocarina of Time, and I've used it ever since.
