As posted on the Twisting Nether WOW forum.

What: A series of RP Quests created by the players of Twisting Nether that encourage rich RP interactions between Alliance guilds, Horde guilds and RP combat between Alliance and Horde.

Who: Alliance and Horde guilds and their members who are dedicated to the role-play of their respective characters, races, guilds, and factions.

When: Specific days will be set up for these events so that guilds can make every attempt to participate. A simple story will begin the quest.

How this begins: (1) I need a 1-2 Horde and 1-2 Alliance players to help me "hold the keys" of information and act as "DM's" during the events. (2) I need players interested in playing an "acting" role for dispensing information to Horde/Alliance as they progress through the quests. These "actors" will only have their information and could after their role is completed join their guild in the pursuit of answers and quest "items". I speculate that we'll need 14 players (7 Horde and 7 Alliance) to aid the quest progress. (3) I need to know if your guild is interested in participating.

Why: Well, I've been bored with the back and forth pvp combat that happens on a nightly basis in Stranglethorn Vale and Hillsbrad Foothills among other regions. It seems rather monotonous. Someone takes land, someone gives up land, lots of fun for sure... but no role-play point beyond the Alliance vs. Horde war. But what if there were tangible points to the stuggle? What if the points held numerous role-play opportunities down the road for more interaction with more character thought and progression... even interactions beyond combat... and what if there were some immediate benefits from winning an all out confrontation (though briefly held for balancing reasons)? What if the needs were great for both sides, the stakes high, and the glory great for the Twisting Nether Server?

Final Thoughts: I started working on this for the Ironforge Regiment about two months ago but it has taken on a life of its own and is too big for one guild. I have six Alliance and Horde quests written with dozens of splits possible. All of which result in Horde and Alliance crossing paths, putting obsticles in each others path, using deception, assasination, thinly held alliances, Raid groups, small Parties, events stretching across Azeroth. Both Horde and Alliance currently have five objectives, however I have written this from the perspective that the Horde are ahead in the conflict and early in their first quest will know what they are trying to do.

I hope that there are players out their, Horde and Alliance, who are interested... right now I am in particular need of some "actors".

Please post here with comments, questions and interest.

P.S. Here is the opening to the quest and the only reference to my character, Vars, is in the opening Quest. These events are not about me.

The Summer Quest Begins--Quest #1

The salty aroma of the sea no longer registered a scent in the blistered nose of the confused dwarf. Giant swells floated him along carrying him nearer to shore or farther away he had no idea or bearing. Loosening his armor to let it sink long ago Vars lay on his back in what was a literal dead mans float. Time was not on his side. He knew he would have to hope that the swells took the message to someone in the Alliance who could get it to Captain Borgas Thunderfist. The only sadness in watching the bottle drift away with his frantically written note was that it was his last bottle of rum that carried it. But that had to have been hours ago. How long had he been feared and cast into the unforgiving sea was a question best left to any gods that existed; as far as Vars was concerned Northern Kalimdor had no deities left.

Several Hours Later...

Weakened by the heat of the sun that had slowly crawled past its zenith Vars knew no ship would pick him up. By now a merchant vessel or transport should have passed through the shipping lanes. Vars scowled at the hateful sky. His muscles burned from the ongoing attempt to keep himself righted in the oceans swells. Many long fought battles told Vars that soon his strength would be gone. Battle was a dwarfs home not the sea and the doorstep to crushing darkness beckoned.

I'll bring this up at the Seekers of Arthas meeting on... wait... I don't have a guild

You do not have to be in a guild... though it may help a bit... it depends on what role you are interested in playing.

The post above is only an introductory post to get a feel for whether people are interested. There is too much information to pass along all at once. Don't be discouraged, there are numerous opportunities for the non-guilded...

Sounds awesome... I may donate a quest-line if there aren't enough hordeside. Perhaps Mortica could make a new crossfaction subforum to deal with this, and help keep things organized? I feel that's the best way to solidify this and get people involved.

The support has been overwhelming... a temporary "special" forum would be pretty nice if possible. It will need to be password protected to keep "end game" material from the players pursuing the quests. I think there are enough people who have said they are "in" to take this to the real planning phase where I can share with that group (In my quest log I call them "Scavenger Hunt Executives" or "SHE's" for short) the finer details of what has been worked out and what may need to change or be done to bring this to the game.

Again, I think if we have 2 Alliance and 2 Horde "SHE's" we will due fine. These "SHE's" will finalize the initial story, scrutinize the quests and do add ons etc...

Still needing a total of 7 Horde and 7 Alliance players willing to take on an actor/actress role at some point. These "actors" will recieve their roles via PM's and not the password protected forum (if we are able to get one) so that after fulfilling their roles they can go and participate with their guild in the quests they were not apart of.

A little later tonight or first thing in the morning I will share the Raid/Party idea I had for running these events and how various prizes/rewards can be earned outside of the "end game" scenario.

Put me down as an "actor", please.

I will help as I can, dont think you need a special forum though. Just remember that as the person organizing most of the footwork is going to fall on your feet.

Well, count me in as an Alliance-side volunteer...possibly. Without specific dates or times mentioned yet, which is hard to do considering this is the initial planning stages, I can't commit. However, I can say I am interested in doing the job if it promotes roleplay on Twisting Nether.

Oh, and I'm sure the Swordwaltzers would love to take part.

This Quest is not dead. It has taken much longer to complete due to the sheer magnitude. I've recontacted everyone who originally offered to help and if anyone else is interested now is the time.

When this was originally posted, I was in Europe, and missed it. I'd be more than happy to offer absolute support and assistance. I would be honored to act as a SHE, or an actor, whichever is needed.

I'd be happy to take part in something like this, but I'm guildless and don't plan to change that. If that's a problem.

Current Status of Quest

We have all the volunteers needed for acting. There are still a few people I need to PM. But basically if you have posted here plan on me contacting you and asking you to help as an actor. In some cases people have volunteered to be SHE's (Help with Event coordination). Here are the next steps.

Order of Opperations

1. Actors will be given their role's and a generic script. The pupose of the script is simillar to the NPC quest scripts. However these scripts are only samples and players should feel free to use free form. The script is extremely detailed, all the way down to the emotes /em commands and all. In addition some roles will have multiple quest branches. If you are killed "A" happens. If you are captured "B" happens... and so on.

2. SHE's will be provided with the complete overview and purpose for the quests including the "End Game" scenario possibilities depending on what happens as players run through the quests.

3. Date's and Quest Start times will be set. We will use the Twisting Nether Gazette, Ironforge Regiment and Twisting Nether forums to provide storylines and general information that kick starts or reviews what is happening. If anyone knows of another website we should post news to please PM me the URL.

4. An Actor's Run Through will occur to ensure that each actor knows their general duties so that the corret information is passed on to the parties that succeed in the quests.

5. We are probably around 1 -2 weeks away from this quest beginning. A lot will depend on how quickly all the people involved and be prepared. So yes, this was a summer of planning for a fall event.
