As posted on the Twisting Nether WOW forum.
What: A series of RP Quests created by the players of Twisting Nether that encourage rich RP interactions between Alliance guilds, Horde guilds and RP combat between Alliance and Horde.
Who: Alliance and Horde guilds and their members who are dedicated to the role-play of their respective characters, races, guilds, and factions.
When: Specific days will be set up for these events so that guilds can make every attempt to participate. A simple story will begin the quest.
How this begins: (1) I need a 1-2 Horde and 1-2 Alliance players to help me "hold the keys" of information and act as "DM's" during the events. (2) I need players interested in playing an "acting" role for dispensing information to Horde/Alliance as they progress through the quests. These "actors" will only have their information and could after their role is completed join their guild in the pursuit of answers and quest "items". I speculate that we'll need 14 players (7 Horde and 7 Alliance) to aid the quest progress. (3) I need to know if your guild is interested in participating.
Why: Well, I've been bored with the back and forth pvp combat that happens on a nightly basis in Stranglethorn Vale and Hillsbrad Foothills among other regions. It seems rather monotonous. Someone takes land, someone gives up land, lots of fun for sure... but no role-play point beyond the Alliance vs. Horde war. But what if there were tangible points to the stuggle? What if the points held numerous role-play opportunities down the road for more interaction with more character thought and progression... even interactions beyond combat... and what if there were some immediate benefits from winning an all out confrontation (though briefly held for balancing reasons)? What if the needs were great for both sides, the stakes high, and the glory great for the Twisting Nether Server?
Final Thoughts: I started working on this for the Ironforge Regiment about two months ago but it has taken on a life of its own and is too big for one guild. I have six Alliance and Horde quests written with dozens of splits possible. All of which result in Horde and Alliance crossing paths, putting obsticles in each others path, using deception, assasination, thinly held alliances, Raid groups, small Parties, events stretching across Azeroth. Both Horde and Alliance currently have five objectives, however I have written this from the perspective that the Horde are ahead in the conflict and early in their first quest will know what they are trying to do.
I hope that there are players out their, Horde and Alliance, who are interested... right now I am in particular need of some "actors".
Please post here with comments, questions and interest.
P.S. Here is the opening to the quest and the only reference to my character, Vars, is in the opening Quest. These events are not about me.
The Summer Quest Begins--Quest #1
The salty aroma of the sea no longer registered a scent in the blistered nose of the confused dwarf. Giant swells floated him along carrying him nearer to shore or farther away he had no idea or bearing. Loosening his armor to let it sink long ago Vars lay on his back in what was a literal dead mans float. Time was not on his side. He knew he would have to hope that the swells took the message to someone in the Alliance who could get it to Captain Borgas Thunderfist. The only sadness in watching the bottle drift away with his frantically written note was that it was his last bottle of rum that carried it. But that had to have been hours ago. How long had he been feared and cast into the unforgiving sea was a question best left to any gods that existed; as far as Vars was concerned Northern Kalimdor had no deities left.
Several Hours Later...
Weakened by the heat of the sun that had slowly crawled past its zenith Vars knew no ship would pick him up. By now a merchant vessel or transport should have passed through the shipping lanes. Vars scowled at the hateful sky. His muscles burned from the ongoing attempt to keep himself righted in the oceans swells. Many long fought battles told Vars that soon his strength would be gone. Battle was a dwarfs home not the sea and the doorstep to crushing darkness beckoned.
