K so, since we don't want to take away Fynne's spotlight (*wink*) and since it is demanded of me, here is MY PERSONAL UI, the not-cluttered-raid-addon-filled version.

http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn58/RoseChyld22/WoWScrnShot_061908_185100.jpg

Not Counting the Special MOD's I have for particular raid encounters (Shaz mod/Kalecgos Mod) these are the programs I run:

Bartender 3
Big Wigs
Chronometer
Clique
Cooldown Count
Elkannos Buff Bars
Fubar 3.0 (And various plugins - Its "hidden", aka, Mouse-over to activate ;p)
Grid
MyRoleplay
Omen
OneBag
Outfitter
Pitbull
Quartz
QuestHelper
Recount
Scrolling Combat Text (And the GUI Menu Addon, and SCTD)
SimpleMinimap
DeadlyBossMods

<3 my UI. Heid hates it ;p

and I assume all of these are available from Curse, right?

Curse can burn in hell. I hate curse with a passion, there are so many hacked files its rediculous. I get all my mods from Wowace. Pretty much, if Wowace has it or links to another site for something, its been scanned and checked, double checked, and triple checked to make sure there are no keyloggers or viruses inside the files.

Beautiful Skyze and Lis. I will post mine in a day or so. It is very cluttered, but it has all the info I need and the words are as small as I can make them and still have them be pretty readable (15" laptop monitor and all).

Aha! I knew something didn't look right with that UI Lisbet. There is no way you packed all the useful spells into that itty bitty little bar. Where are the healing spells?

I once made a joke UI on my warlock alt where all of my abilities were tiny little icons in a corner while I had 4 HUMONGOUS icons just below my character that were, of course, my 3 lowbie dots and fear.

ArkInventory is probably the most amazing addon ever (gotta love being able to check bank, guild bank, and other characters anytime, not to mention the category system), next to of course Gatherer and QuestHelper.

I also use Proximo, EBB (Elkano's), and NECB (Natur Enemy Cast Bar)

I used to love pimping out my UI like the ones you guys show but redownloading and resetting all of the layout and such is a PAIN. If you have mods that somehow make this easier and make your bars/unitframes look more compact or more out of the way let me know.

Karkarov

Here is a thumbnail of mine. Uh it isnt totally up to date as I lost the litestep texture due to new mods and such... just a cosmetic change but eh. My cast bars arent seen in the shot but they are above the player and target windows just slightly over the bottom border. Either way this is the basic gist of it.

I have this fun mod called Clique. Along with Grid Raid frames (That I never never never turn off ever cause I love them so much) I use it to heal. My heal buttons are bound to my mouse, and I mouse-over your name on my grid, and Click >.>

Its not something I ever recommend for people just learning how to play healers/raid healing, but having been a raid healer for so many years now (Mae's been resto since level 40, and I leveled her in September 2005.) that its a nice way to maximize heal output, at least on Mae.. and it helps keep my shaman's and my shadow priest's button bars down to a minimum ;x

Truthfully, I usually let Heid build the UI and then copy his "Heidenreich" folder to disk and burn it. I have Zero space relations, so I'll stand behind him while he looks for something shiney, throw in my two cents, and then take all the credit for it later! I'm actually pretty proud of my UI, its almost completely self built this time around. I'm still missing Prat, but Vista was being a bitch and wouldn't let me transfer files anymore. I've just been to lazy to try again ;p

-atlas
-atlas loot
-GEM
-Pally Power
-X-Perl
-CT_mod
-Titan
-SCT
-Recount (dont use it anymore really besides keeping track on recruits)
-Deadly boss mod
-Omen (again dont use much for me but I do on my warrior because w/o salv I do take aggro in a hot second >.<)

again, just the basic's, nothing flashy :)

Most of these "raid" type mods on not used by Cedes since he's souly pvp/bg and TN community fun only these days.

Here we go again. I <33 addons. I've rearranged a few things since I took these screenshots but they're accurate enough. First, the list:

Interface
-xperl: pretty pretty animated unit frames
-Bongos: tidy up those action bars, set transparency, size, anything
-Chinchilla: turn your map into different shapes, see coordinates, also lets you move things like world info/clock/repair doll to a different place
-Quartz: fancies up your cast bar, shows latency, and your swing timer and GCD, among other things like some buffs, debuffs, and casts from your focus or target
-MetaHUD: a nice heads-up display (puts your and your target's health and mana in curved bars around your character for easy reference)
-MikScrollingBattleText: a more customizable scrolling combat text, plus you can set warnings to pop up for pretty much anything, including when spells are ready (quit staring at your buttons!) -- and it shows pet damage taken, so hot
-PowerAuras: lets you set certain patterns to appear around your character when you or your target are missing, or have, certain buffs or debuffs. Missing Righteous Fury on my pally? Big white rune pattern appears. Hunter's Mark not on my target on my hunter? Yellow arcs appear. The possibilities are pretty endless.

Raid/Instance
-Omen: best threatmeter ever
-BigWigs or DeadlyBossMods: calls out warnings when bosses do stuff, yup
-Violation: a light personal damage meter
-ora2: I really only use it for the main target frames, but it can be pretty handy for raid leaders
-MobInfo2: stores lots of info for mobs, most useful for mob health, but can also tell you a lot about drops and such

Social
-FlagRSP2: set your first and last name, title, and description for other people using an RP mod to see, and in/out of character tags and such
-Chatter: very nice way to clean up and sort your chat -- change fonts, save channel colors, sort channels, a waaaay improved version of Prat
-Elephant: Good logs, not sure it's worth the memory though... ahh, the eternal struggle
-WIM: makes AIM-like windows for all your whispers, logs, shares info with other WIM users, omg get this mod
-HoloFriends: sorta expands your friends list, it can only do so much, but it's better than nothing

Misc
-Atlas/Atlasloot: dungeon maps, and all PvP, faction, and dungeon loot for viewing, linking, and seeing what drops where
-Auctioneer: stores large amounts of data about going prices for things, saves you a lot of trouble figuring out how much to put something up for
-ItemRack: quick equipment switcher, I use it to switch between raid and RP gear tidily, also good for non-RP purposes for all you crazy hybrid classes

Hunter
-zHunter: can't-live-without hunter mod, especially for beginning mod users; makes a button each for your aspects, tracking, pet abilities, and traps. I only use the aspect and pet ones now but if you have no other mods and are a hunter, you'll love this space saver. Also does a couple other nice things like tranq shot announcements, automatically turning off cheetah/pack, and an auto shot timer if you don't have one. Oh and it gives you an auto strip button, haha. Not so handy now that you can't drop combat in boss fights, but if you ever fall off a cliff... what? It happens to me okay?!
-ICU or Personal Sentry: what makes tracking worthwhile. The new colors for dots are nice but either of these mods will also store up a database of mobs and players you've targeted so that when you mouse over them on the minimap, it'll also tell you their class and level. Both of them aren't quite perfect but once you use a tracking mod, you won't want to live without one.

And here are the screenshots.

At rest:
http://renedreamer.com/wow/UI-atrest.jpg
- One thing you'll note which you don't need a mod to do is the two chat windows. Loot spam, creature spam, and system spam goes in the right; groups, say, and social channels go in the left. If you don't do this you're crazy. Other than that, major features are the xperl animated unitframes, Bongos action bars in the center and on the right side, and the Chinchilla customized map (which is also what let me move the world PvP objectives and quest info locations).

In combat:
http://renedreamer.com/wow/UI-soloing.jpg
- Now you can see my heads-up display, scrolling combat text, and power auras in action. Having my pet's, my own, and my enemy's health at hand keeps my eyes from being locked on the unitframes, and the auras alert me to the status of things I need at hand (the thin lines are to show Scorpid Sting isn't on my target, and the triangles show which aspect is on). And the scrolling text is very neat and orderly. Oh and of course you can see Quartz in action as well, swing tamer, latency, and all.

In raid:
http://renedreamer.com/wow/UI-raiddead.jpg
- And dead, haha. I ought to take a better one, but you get the idea. Raid frames appear, so do ora2's main tank boxes and my boss mod's additional windows and timers. As a note, when in a party and not in a raid, those unitframes appear down the right side like normal.

I get all my mods from Curse or wowace.com.

edit: (removed question because I found the answer, but continuing with new /bitchmode..)

well, I didn't realize that dependencies between ace Lib Mods wasn't updated automatically with the ace-updater. So after installing over a dozen Lib-XXXX type acemods, it is seems to be working now, and /pitbull does bring up a config menu after doing all that.

My UI tends to be pretty simple, and I'll admit, playing the game on a 16:10 perspective monitor is nice because it does give you a bit more space to work with:
http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b180/K0LD/WoWScrnShot_042808_010532.jpg

My mods (although not all are active in that shot):
-Opium: Keeps track of people I've encountered and will alert me if they're on either my guild's KoS list or my own personal KoS list.
-Atlas: Provides dungeon/raid maps.
-DeadlyBossMods: Raid/Battleground use.
-Omen: Raid use only.
-ExClock: Keeps track of time in that window on top instead of having to mouse over the map's time display and tracks XP/hour along with money/hour.
-Group Calendar: RP event and Guild event use.
-Soundtrack: I'm a big music fan, and this lets me set my own music in game to what I want it to. Very nice since I got bored with a lot of WoW's default soundtrack very quickly and like having some kind of battle music play when I'm in combat.
-MyRolePlay: RP use, obviously. :p
-QuestLevel: Only used on my alts for leveling purposes.
-Scrap: Very nice little tool. Adds a button to the vendor window that will sell all of your junk items with one click.
-Koordinator: Changes the area display on the map to show my current coordinates.

I also am a big fan of macros, it's just that shot was taken before I wrote and perfected the ones I have now.

No thread deraily. But, make a new post with what you are looking to write and I can help you out with some of the more basic ones.

Also, http://www.wowwiki.com/HOWTO:_Make_a_Macro

Back on topic: I've considered using mods like Clique in the past, but I didn't feel it could give me the versatility I needed being a priest. Assuming a crummy mouse like mine with only three buttons, how would be the best way to set that up? Oh, and <3 grid with a passion.

Also, one of the more entertaining uses for the PowerAura mod: my younger brother uses it on his Frost mage to bring up an image of a snowflake whenever something in range is frozen (not sure if it's something he froze or something in range, doesn't matter). It's when I see this bright translucent snowflake that I know there will be a fountain of bolded yellow numbers and someone is going to die.

Now see, thats silly. I don't use the default UI because with the mods that are REQUIRED for me to raid, I would have a whole to see out into the world of WOW the size of my little toe. If I were to try and make it small enough to work with, I couldn't SEE it. Thats why in all my built UI's, the text in my chat box is set to no smaller then 18, and my buttons are farly large. Heid plays at TINEY TEENY sizes, and I can't figure out how. Being nearsighted sucks, because if I get my UI bits that I need to read to small, or sit to far of a distance from my monitor, its like trying to read through tissue paper. I probably should wear my glasses, but there is always little greasy baby fingerprints on them ;P

Don't let anyone tell you that you can't be a good player with a custom UI, and don't let anyone tell you that you can't be a good player with out one. The game play is the same, the ui is just a player prefference :)

I use Clique for healing as a shaman. I don't know how it would translate to priest, you guys seem to have a few more spells up your sleeve than we do (and in a 25-man environment, the only thing a shaman casts is chain heal 4 anyway, urgh), but with Clique I had it set up so that it was something like this:

shift+left click = chain heal 4
shift+right click = healing wave 8
ctrl+left click = lesser healing wave (max rank)
ctrl+right click = healing wave 12
shift+ctrl+left click = NS/healing wave macro

and a few other things with the two other usable buttons on my mouse--earth shield among other things. It really did help my response time in the beginning a lot. Nowadays, I could probably just use Grid along with mouseover macros and get the job done just as quickly, but I got so used to click-healing that I didn't really want to switch too much.

Raid mods are one thing. But I've played the raid game, and you really only need two or three mods. I look over this thread and see lists of mods fifteen to twenty long. That's just a wee bit much.

Also I retain not screaming and pulling my hair out the week after patch days.

I don't see how it's "too much" when I like all of them, and they improve the game playing experience for me. And I never have that much problem on patch days, I know exactly what my mods do so if there's a problem or soemthing stops working I know how to work around it.

I can appreciate mods, but mods can turn good players bad.

I was tanking some level 70 normal dungeon, and the shaman was all "I can't control my aggro because the tank isn't using Omen." (paraphrased, but that was essentially it)

No, you can't control your aggro because you don't know how to play anymore, as you've been playing with crutches for too long.

Karkarov
06-22-2008, 07:06 PM
actually omen is a tool for good players to be able to tell exactly how hard they can go. It is also a measuring stick for the tank to see if they are effective. Bad players pull aggro with it on or never come close to pulling regardless. Make no mistake though if a person doesnt know how to adjust to a tank not using it they are probably a bit on the bad player side by like a grand canyon sized margin.

QFT!!!

I absolutely refuse to get mods from Curse. If I can't get it from WoWAce (http://www.wowace.com), WoWInterface (http://www.wowinterface.com) or the author's site, then I probably don't need it.

Here's a slightly out of date picture of my UI. I'll probably run SSC tonight on my main and take a screen shot. This picture was taken while questing on my mage a few months ago.

http://teutelquessir.com/wowui.jpg

XPerl (http://files.wowace.com/sw-x.html) is my unit frames mod. I took this particular screen shot to highlight the use of the focus and focus target frames on the right side near the mini map.

Bongos3 (http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info8419-Bongos3.html) is my bar mod. It's extremely customizable.

Omen (http://files.wowace.com/sw-o.html) is my threat meter. This is a MUST for raiding.

Big Wigs (http://files.wowace.com/sw-b.html#) is a raiding boss mod. I also use the plug-in Little Wigs (http://files.wowace.com/sw-l.html#) for five-man instances. This mod has all sorts of raid warning timers and stuff to make life easier during boss fights.

Big Brother (http://files.wowace.com/sw-b.html#) is a great CC and buff monitor. I got tired of people breaking my sheeps and shackles then claiming they didn't do it. This mod can announce CC breaks to a variety of channels and it also gives you a very nice window with a list of the raid and buffs so you can see who has what and who needs what.

Clique (http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info5108-Clique.html) is a great casting mod. I not only use it on my healer, I've found a wide variety of uses for it with several other classes.

Here's a full list of my installed mods. These can be found at either WoWAce (http://www.wowace.com), WoWInterface (http://www.wowinterface.com) or author sites.

AtlasLoot (http://files.wowace.com/sw-a.html#), vAtlasLoot Enhanced v4.06.01 - Loot tables

AucAdvanced, v5.0.PRE.2662
AucFilterBasic, v5.0.PRE.2662 (BillyGoat)
AucStatClassic, v5.0.PRE.2662 (BillyGoat)
AucStatPurchased, v5.0.PRE.2662 (BillyGoat)
AucStatSimple, v5.0.PRE.2662 (BillyGoat)
AucStatStdDev, v5.0.PRE.2662 (BillyGoat)

The Auc mods are all part of the Auctioneer (http://www.auctioneeraddon.com/) package. I highly recommend it to anyone who is serious about making money in the game without grinding dailies endlessly.

BigBrother
BigWigs, v2.0 r76594

Bongos, vBeta.12
BongosAB, vBeta.12
BongosCastBar
BongosRoll
BongosStats
BongosXP

The above mods are all part of the Bongos3 package.

Cellular (http://files.wowace.com/sw-c.html#), v2.4.013 - IM for WoW! Rounds up all /tells to one window.
ChatLog, v2.0 - Logs any and/or all channels. I'm using an old version of this which is no longer available but there appears to be a new (??) version here (http://wowvault.ign.com/View.php?view=UIMods.Detail&id=287).
ClassLoot, v1.2 2007-07-18 22:41:54 BST - What loot should go to who based upon Kaliban's Class Loot Lists (http://www.wow-loot.com/)
Clique, v96
CTMailMod (http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info3866-CT_MailMod.html), v3.02 (CTMod 2.0) - The only mail mod I've ever liked.
DoubleWide (http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info6887-DoubleWide.html) - Lets you see your quest list and instructions side-by-side.
EnhTooltip, v5.0.PRE.2662 - Tooltip mod comes with Auctioneer package.
GFWDisenchantPredictor (http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info4074-FizzwidgetDisenchantPredictor.html), v2.2
flagRSP2, v1.5.2 - RP mod
GroupCalendar (http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info5539-GroupCalendar.html) - Great for keeping track of time and cool downs. I'm still using an old version but I'll probably get around to updating sooner or later.
JasonQuest (http://files.wowace.com/sw-j.html), v1.04 - Fantastic mod for questing in a party. Anyone in the group running this mod can see the quest logs of other people in the group with the mod.
KARaidTracker (http://files.wowace.com/sw-k.html), v2.0 - Good for keeping track of your raid attendance and loot.
Ace2 - Library frame for running most of these mods.
LightHeaded (http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info7017-LightHeaded.html), v230 - Another great questing mod which gives you instructions and coordinates.
LittleWigs
Outfitter (http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info5467-Outfitter.html) - For quick changes of clothing!
Stubby, v52 - Tooltip mod comes with Auctioneer Package
Swatter, v5.0.PRE.2662 - Bug catcher.
LootLink (http://www.wowwiki.com/Telo%27s_Addons), v350 - Builds a library of objects in the game.
TomTom (http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info7032-TomTom.html), r156 - Map coordinates mod which works very well with Lightheaded.

I think that's everything I'm currently using. I'll get some screen shots during a raid and post those, too.

There's a lot of stuff hidden along the edges that only shows up if moused over. Mostly things like my bag bar and other non combat abilities, professions and things that don't need to be displayed all the time and would get in the way otherwise. Omen and my target show up on the right side of the screen.

But I've played the raid game, and you really only need two or three mods. I look over this thread and see lists of mods fifteen to twenty long. That's just a wee bit much.

Doing Karazhan, I don't think, qualifies as playing the raid game.

I threw this together last night since I'm stuck playing from work again at least for a couple of weeks.

http://wow-tng.org/images/mortica/villy_ui_work.jpg

elkano buff bars (I need to turn the name of the buff off since it's overwriting the time remaining)
bartender4 (all the bars... I've been playing around with fading out stuff that I don't use during combat)
pitbull (unit frames.. not shown are target, target of target, focus, focus target)
chinchilla (map mod-->need to turn all the minimap butttons off, I usually only have the config and item-rack buttons on)
pallypower
Grid (raid window)
Ora2 (maintank window)
aperture (shrink playing area so all the stuff at the bottom isn't completely hiding half of the game)
item rack
visual heal (not shown, puts a bar over the Grid when I heal so I'm sure I'm healing who I think I'm healing and estimates what health will be after the heal, including other incoming heals if the other healers have it installed also)
quartz (not shown, mostly only use when my connection is laggy and I need a better guess as to when I can start the next heal)
prat (chat formatting)
cellular (not shown.. pops incoming tells into a separate window)

So, I am using Xperl as a test and so far, it is neat, fun, clean but one thing I HATE is the fact that when someone or something is casting a spell, it only shows their casting bar above their life bar but doesn't say what it is. Kind of annoying. I may just switch back to the original UI for that reason. Unless someone can tell me a way for it to show it. >_>

I use Parrot to call out what they are casting (along with a million other combat-related events that I like to know about, like when swiftmend is up, etc.).

I love XPerl simply for the 3D models of peoples faces. I thought XPerl said what they were casting (or there was a way to get it), I will check tonight for you Brox.

And I need Cellular...that sounds awesome.
