(( Okay um... I'm sorry for any grammar or spelling errors, I tried to weed out as much and as many of them as I could. This is to save myself MANY MANY explanations so I just wrote this up out of boredom. Critique is VERY much welcomed.))

Something was amiss, she couldn’t say how she knew, but she knew something would go terribly wrong this day. At the first tug of unease Akulazeel had decided to visit Malaka’jin; a well hidden and sparsely known troll village in eastern Stonetalon Mountains. It was the place where all three of her ‘husbands’ had met their demise, as well of the place of residence for her favorite sibling. Just the thought of her older brother brought a sort of relief from Akula’s unease. Irithel might have been the trolless’ best friend, but he understood so little of the inner workings of Akula’s mind. She knew that if she consulted the Blood Elf he would simply nod, offer his services if she needed them, then the subject would change; mostly because she would harass him about his own well being, shortly to become frustrated by his lack of detail. Eventually the exchange would end with one of them walking away exhausted with the other, or Akula grasping the young elf in a head-lock rubbing the top of his head with her knuckles playfully.

The last thought made her chuckle as she urged Za’zu up a steep slope, the image of Irithel’s dismayed face as he fixed his hair vanished from her thoughts at the first sign of the troll village; a burning torch and a large voodoo mask surrounded by skulls. Akula’s nose flared at the scent emitting off of the fresher skulls, the smell somehow alluring in a way that made her stomach growl. Za’zu began to veer towards the mound, quickly the trolless tugged the armored raptor back onto the now forming path; “You’ll be fed later.” She told her mount in her native tongue.

‘By later you better mean when your feet touch the ground.’ Words that were not words filled Akula’s mind. She chuckled, a leather covered glove patting the irritable creature lightly on her neck.

Recognizing her surroundings, the mount picked up pace, Akula let Za’zu do as she pleased. It was only a matter of moments before they passed the first hut of the village, her head twisted to stare at the burnt roof and still-standing, charred, skeletal frame. Her easy smile turned slightly sour at the memories the hut brought to her mind, once more the unease she had been feeling earlier leaking back into her body. When she could no longer hold her gaze to the hut she faced forward once more, thoughts drifting until Za’zu stopped her slowed gate in front of her brother’s hut.

“Tan’ta!” She called out as she slipped from her saddle. Za’zu screeched in response causing the female troll to wince and smack the massive lizard with her removed gloves. “That was my ear.”

The raptor turned and shoved her snout in Akula’s face, ‘This is my mouth.’

“I’ll feed you later.” She repeated shoving the creature’s head carefully out of her view.

“Trenja this isn’t the best time for you to be here.” The gruff voice of her brother reached the trolless’ ears although his words were spoken softly. Akula blinked and peered at her brother as he approached; his orange-yellow mohawk accenting his leery amber eyes. His body language told her he was in a superior complex mode, usually he would hold his gender over Akula’s head as a way to ‘confirm’ his superiority, in such cases she made it her job to kick him down from his pedestal. He looked her over briefly stopping to eye the gleaming gem in his sister’s nose then pointed a blue-green finger at it, “’Bout time you got another piercing.”

“Why isn’t now the best time?”

“Why are you here?” He countered her question with his own causing her to scowl at him. He usually wasn’t this annoying unless he wanted her to pick up on something he couldn’t say aloud.

The answer was because he was family, the only family she cared to speak with. Akula’s face grew business like, “I can’t find Tilu so I came to you to see if father had anything for me to do.”

“Can’t find me? Ja ‘ardly even looked fer me!” A young troll voice came from behind Akula causing her to turn around and glare at her younger sister. “Doncha scowl at me, I ain’t dumb ja know, I know dat da two of ja be buddy-buddy.” Tilu spoke in Orcish; Akula had once heard Tilu state that she enjoyed the way the foreign language felt on her tongue.

“An’ dat be a crime ‘ow?” The older trolless growled.

“Dun’ matta wit joo, it be a crime fer ‘im.” Tilu pointed at Tan’ta. He stared frustrated at them both, unlike his sisters he understood very little of the Horde’s neutral tongue.

“Speak Troll.” He demanded, glaring viciously at Tilu.

The purple skinned sister giggled flicking a yellow braid over her shoulder. In that moment she reminded Akula very much of the many elves in Silvermoon City causing the trolless to growl. “Big brother you’ve gone against Da’s word and have been helping Akulazeel.”

“Only mental support you little rat. I have given her no money, or food, nor shelter.” The last was a lie, but he pulled it off without skipping a beat.

“I don’t think Da’ will care what you haven’t done, the fact is that you’ve been helping her period.” Tilu leaned back on her heels, her words nearly singing from her mouth.

“You won’t tell Da’ anything!” Tan’ta stood up to his full height and stormed towards his younger sister. He towered over both of them; Tilu by two heads, Akula by just one.

“Oh really? Are you going to stop me?” She beamed up at him, her words dripping with threat and malice.

Akula pushed forward shoving Tan’ta out of the way, her hand snatching the younger troll by a tusk forcing her to look up at Akula. “You despicable little worm! Have you no respect for your family?”

“He is the one who has disrespected Da’. And you,” Tilu snorted, “You’re not even supposed to be considered family. So why don’t you go play with your precious elements, or spirits, or what ever it is you betrayed Da’ for.”

“Tan’ta may not be able to do anything to you, but seeing as I’m no longer family I don’t see why I can’t do anything to you.” Akula was unaware of the cynical grin that spread across her face, or of the small crowd they had attracted.

“Trenja…” Tan’ta growled Akula’s pet name but made no further advance to stop the on coming beating.

“’Ow ‘bout I show ja why I went ahead wit learnin’ ta be a shaman instead of a harassin’ lil’ whelp such as ja self?” Akula whispered in Orc just loud enough for the siblings to hear. “Why I didn’t become a greedy shark ta my own kind, gamblin’ wit oders lives fer gold an respect from a wretch who does nuttin’ but sit on ‘is high pedestal.”

“’Cause fightin’ ‘long side elves be all dat betta.” Tilu spat. “I seen ja wit ‘em all da time!”

This caused Akula to stiffen, her grin diminishing. “Does Da’ know?” She picked up her sister’s word. Tilu grinned largely watching the dismay in Akula’s orange eyes. “Tilu’Zanish Zen’Mog…” Her voice shook with the rage that wouldn’t allow her words to form. Akula tossed her sister to the ground and called forth a totem of fire. The ground trembled slightly with attempt but nothing erupted from the ground, no flames shot out to scorch her sibling.

Once more Akula demanded the element to obey her and once more it failed. Tilu’s frightened expression vanished to a grin, “What’s the matter big sister? Can’t do it?” She spoke in troll for all to hear. “Afraid of what Da’ will do to you?”

“Trenja what’s wrong?” Tan’ta questioned.

Akula snarled loudly at Tilu, “I am not afraid of that ingrate!” Her body felt suddenly heavy and she began to pant. “Tell Da’ that I spared you because I wanted to, because you’re my sister and I’m supposed to care for you, not abandon you because of how you choose to live your life!” Her words were a lie. Akula was a terrible liar, she knew it, and now everyone else did to.

To salvage what little pride she had left, the trolless stormed back to her mount and had barely sat herself properly in her saddle before taking off down a back trail towards Sunrock Retreat. Her panting grew heavier, body growing warmer with each passing moment. “Why wont you obey me?!” She raged, shouting at the trees and rocks. Sensing her master’s condition, Za’zu slowed just enough that when Akula fell from her back she wasn’t sent tumbling too far. The raptor was about to turn back for her mistress when a voice, more so a feeling, assured her that what was happening was not fatal, and so Za’zu left Akula where she was, curled up on the ground trembling and gasping.

The feeling that was overcoming her body was familiar to Akula, but the unwilling force that was making her change shape without her commanding it to do so was nauseating. ‘Spirit why are you doing this?!’ She demanded silently, fighting to keep her body from shifting. Vaguely she heard Mojo object to her weight that crushed his pouch, she shifted so as not to kill her frog companion, allowing him to escape.

‘You have learned to master and respect myself and those who are made from me, but you have abused my brethren and taken advantage of what gifts they give you long enough!’ The rushing voice of the wild spun around in the trolless’ head willing her to stop her struggle. Her body shrunk considerably and yet bulked at the same time. Hands and feet shifted to paws, the turquoise fuzz of her fur lengthened into brown-red hair, tusks shortening and canines forming. What was once a troll was now a wolf, orange eyes were the only thing that remained of her former self. ‘What better way to make you respect the elements then to make you dependant on them without your humanoid ways of assistance. You shall remain not a ghost wolf but a true wolf until you have learned your lesson.’

Akula let out a loud whine before quickly rolling to her feet and regurgitating what little she had eaten that day. Normally she would have argued, but the raw power that made her shift caused her to immediately tuck her tail between her legs and crouch down low in submission. Mojo croaked a comforting sound and pressed against one of her large paws. She felt the spirit disperse from her mind and body, the nausea leaving with it so quickly that she heaved once more then weakly moved herself a few paces before leaning against the cliff side panting, tongue lulling from her mouth. Although she knew it would fail, Akula attempted to shift her body to no avail. Instead she received a painful mental jab followed by a throbbing headache that nearly blinded her vision after a second attempt.

Mojo croaked at her feet once more, she looked down at him distantly and he hopped once. ‘Let’s find you some water, hmm?’ Whimpering pathetically, Akula leaned her head down and pressed her nose to the top of his head in thanks.
