Ok i am sick and tired of Alliance AV. So I want to do something about it. How many like AV? How many want to atleast give the horde trouble in AV?
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/pvp/battlegrounds/quests-alterac.html
Read up about AV above.
http://www.thottbot.com/?f=q&cat=Alterac%20Valley
The quests for AV can be found above.
You really need only 15 people who know what they are doing to get the elites out and get them to run through the horde.
Who is up for it?

Actually, for the elites, you can do it with 2 people who know what they're doing. Mut and I have done it regularly, just takes a bit of creative dying.

Well then sign me up. I hate the fact that nobody ever clears the mine or loots bodies.

They've upped the drop rates on Storm Crystals and Armor Scraps like crazy. I played a bit of AV on the test server and just from looking four bodies I got enough for around six armor turn-ins and five crystal cluster turn-ins.
One thing I was wondering, since I haven't been in real AV in a long time...how do you get the Rune of Recall now that Korrak doesn't hang out in AV anymore? For that matter, do they even have that weapon quest in the instance anymore?

I hate alliance pugs, its the reason i dont run with anything aside from an organized group. Im given the option to weed out who i can play with, so i wanna take advantage of that as much as possible. In my opinion, its exactly how the Twisting Nether Gazette is meant to keep the mentally derranged away from the signifigantly less unstable (some exceptions pending >>).
Alterac Valley CAN be very fun though. I love running in there with 39 other people I actually care about, and I know will do their job and put the group before their desire to skirmish. Winning or losing, its awesome. All about the atmosphere.

Empyrean Dawn should be attempting a few of those soon, friends list me and ill try to pull you in. If anything its fun to go in with friends and make an attempt. Even low 50's can make a difference as long as you appricate the idea of support.
No, you wont be the first to rush into combat, but its not about killing blows. Its about killing their general.

Well i want in on AV fun. I don't care about winning as long as we give them hell.
Oh yeah I won't RP on vent...well not too much. Expect crazy laughter if i kill a hordie from TNG though :D

I've seen ya a couple of times in AV myself, Huffy. :) I kinda...greeted you with a ravage, but I hadn't noticed your name before doing so, or I'd have at least given you a hug before doing so. ;p

I've always wondered what the hell the Alliance thought about their consistent losses.
I really dislike AV, now; they've turned it into more of a game, and less of a battle. The loss of NPCs really killed the atmosphere; it only takes two people to cap a freaking bunker, now. =\
and Lok'holar should be a treat, a treat that crushes the alliance with impunity. Now, he's in every damn game. Gah.
And, I hate Empyrean Dawn. You guys make my PvP life hell. XP Then again, it keeps things interesting.

The function of the Rune of Recall is now part of the Stormpike/Frostwolf Insignia, Horde side gets it from a quest called Proving Grounds offered by Warmaster Laggrond at the entrance to AV in the Alterac Mountains, so I assume the alliance equivalent is at their entrance in Alterac as well. Make sure to return whenever you reach a new level of reputation, you get to hand it in in exchange for a slightly improved version and some rep, and if you're a warrior the top version for max rep in exalted is nice for tanking with its 2% dodge.
The weapons are now rewards for the quest to kill the opposing general and thereby win a battle. It's also offered at what I think of as the 'real' entrance to the instance, even though like most everyone else I still use the battlemasters far more frequently than the instance portals.

Hey Kaliera, You can zap me any time, at least we are in there having it out! Most of the time it's too difficult to pick up names in the swire of battle, I'm trying to learn the regulars, cause I seem to see a core group on the Horde side, but less so on the Alliance. Tonight was terrible, one loss in less than an hour, and one that went about one and a half. It's a constant: "so-in-so has left the battle" Seems like they come into the game counting on losing. And Gavril is right, AV is so different now. The week before last, I defended a bunker, just me and the guards for quite a while. Talk about a thrill to see the L60 Horde come busting through the door, it was a hell of a good fight. I tried the same tonight, but I was by myself and two UD rogues chopped me up and took the bunker.

15 people? Bwuahaha.
Sucker. I've won AV games with 3 people that stuck with me and did exactly what I told them to.
The Zerg does what it wants to do. it's the teams that will win the matches.
the mine? bwuahahaa. Mines are useless. Don't even bother. They are actually worth less time invested now than ever. The worst waste of time you can put is getting Irondeep (If you're Alliance) or coldtooth (If you are horde) mine.
I still believe that ANYONE who needs to exploit the AV queue system to get a 40 man set team in AV are some of the weakest and sorriest pieces of shit in the entire server. Enough Said. If you are apart of those pathetic weakling dumbfucks, then you wil never have my respect on the battlefield or in this game in its entirety. Learn to play fair, or don't play at all.
It's all about knowing how to fight. Also, you alliance have way too many Hunters, and none of your warriors know how to fight worth a damn. I suppose the brave ones rolled paladins and wondered why they can't damage us like warriors? It's baffling. You have absolutely no offensive strength and you don't have anyone worth their weight in a fight that can step forward. Your warriors don't charge, they rush in, fear, and run back.
Your problems is that you, as a faction, are a bunch of cowards. You're afraid of death in a battleground. You are afraid of getting hurt. You are accepting of loss and actually have no desire to win. You are okay with this. You do not try.
this is the same problem Horde have in AB and WSG. All we do is fight pre-set vent teams with our pugs. We're not afrid though. We accept this. We continue to fight. We continue to single-queue. We fight better because of this. You Alliance, do not. You have no factional cohesion. Your ardent refusal to work together, instead of clique-y groups, is your downfall. You don't care about each other at all. You have no comraderie.
The Alliance isn't an Alliance. It's just a bunch of individuals.
The Horde is the horde.

Sadly, Enheil, that is spot-on accurate.
It's true on the previous server I was on as well: The Horde fight for each other; the Alliance fight for themselves. The Horde tend to want it all. The whole thing. A victory. The Alliance, on the whole, tend to be HK-counting weasels. Too many Alliance cannot be lead and too many 'leaders' know nothing about leadership. As a result, the Alliance frequently a) loses or b) fields a Vent-based PvE team to rush the General.
The trade-off, however, is easy access to mailbox-dancing stripper elves.

I've yet to hit AV here, been having way too much fun with 20-29 AB and WSG, but I'm also inclined to agree with Enheil.
My biggest problem during the low level matches is when a raid leader doesn't know how to do the initial setup. They don't even have to be a verbal leader, just set up the match right by promoting people and inviting people as they join the raid. If I have to type "Invite so and so" or "promote me" more than three times in a match, you're a horrible leader. Paladin auras don't work and a priest can't shield you if you're not in the raid. Get a clue! Adding people to the team is a priority!
Poor raid invites has happened far more often when I play Alliance than when I play Horde.
The worst example was a leader who did that and took the time to criticize my playstyle in the middle of a match with something (edited) like this: "Don't stay on D and Shadowmeld! Don't play a priest if you suck." Idiot. Aside from a rogue or druid in catform, a Shadowmelded priest is the most dangerous use of the ability in BG. If the Horde doesn't see you when they charge, they don't target you and you're squishy. When you stop the meld to heal/shield, they often don't switch targets right away or altogether, buying me more time to shield-heal. It also makes a few Horde more likely to attack a node in AB when they only see two defenders instead of three.
If things get worse as I get up there in levels, I'm tempted to go back to being an Orc.

I completely agree. This is why I have been putting off WSG and AB until 29, and I might even delay until 39. I am just too tired of being in that situation over and over again. I am usually the one that tries to get the raid sorted (I have an announcement macro and invite macro. I often play with my bf and we co-lead with him inviting too) but even in those situations I have had tells as ridiculous as "Give me raid, I am military and know how to play better".
Weren't they talking about getting autogrouping in place for BGs? I thought it was going to be in the last patch, and I haven't seen anything of it in the next so I was wondering if they had abandoned it altogether.

I'd recommend going earlier, just so you do get to know who's worth fighting alongside, particularly since some of them will be moving up the brackets with you. Some of them are pretty much going to stay at 29, like the gnome rogue Giggles. I already know certainly people that when I see in the raid give me a boost in confidence about the ability of the team to win.
Daly is a 29 Priest who does capping in WSG and tends to be commander in AB. He stays up top defending the mill while directing traffic. People say the smith is important? The mill is important because it's only approachable from two directions and you can see everywhere but the mine!
Twinket is a 29 Hunter. Also a capable leader. Useenblade is a 28 rogue that likes to ninja. I'd trust any of them to lead a group or fight alongside. Heck, some of the lower levels like Duhpope (23 priest) I prefer having alongside then some 26's because they know how to follow orders!
Now I must quit stealing this AV thread. Haha.

SO YOU JUST ENTERED A FRESH AV! WHOO! Congrats on the fact that you are about to get 5400 Honor in the next 1 Hour!
Step 1: Run BGinvite.
Step 2: Promote All
Step 3: Set Free-For-All Looting; Rare Loot Threshold (If you find a yellow, you can keep it).
Step 4: GOOO GEEEET SNOOOWFAAAAAAALLL!!!!
Step 5: Look in your raid group. Find your friends and anyone you know can fight well. Put them in your group. (Last AV I was in, I put Rhodran, ShadowSpeak, Akutazee, and some rogue named Jassira) Give them the rules. "You are my group. You have been chosen to bring victory to this valley. You are to stay near me, do as I say, and fight what I tell you." Make sure they understand this. Find others that will if they don't.
Step 6: Go fight somewhere else. Five people are not easily noticed. Let the zerg try to rush Stonehearth Graveyard from the West Flank. Your group is different. Approach Stonehearth from the Southeast. Make sure you are not seen. You won't be. Take down the Bowmen from range. Make sure to get the one on top of the doorway by firing between the trees. This ensures the casters will not be stuck in combat. This allows them to eat and drink up.
Step 7: Pull Stouthandle. Kill Him
Step 8: Pull Mancuso. Kill Him
Step 9: Pull Randolph. Kill him
Step 10: Clear and Assault the Bunker. Sit on the ledge and wait 5 minutes. Amaze yourself that neither Balinda is dead nor has the Zerg made any ground. Laugh.
Step 11: Charge up the Eastern Flank Plateau. Kill all NPC's that aggro. Kill some that don't. Loot before anyone else can. Keep Hording. Laugh as the Alliance Zerg keeps spilling out into the West Flank. Hide in the little buildings into the mountains to eat and drink. Freely Assault Stonehearth from the south. Be uncontested. Ask why the Zerg took so damned long to get the graveyard as your team has set campfires up and PvP Banners down when they finally arrive.
Step 12: Wait 5 minutes. Curse and scream at anyone who dares not do this step. They didn't cap this graveyard, so they don't deserve the honor. They are nothing but a distraction. But when told to sit, the dogs must sit.
Step 13: Kill Balinda. Your 5-man team can do this. Remind them to spam Rank1 Earthshock, Shield Bash, Pummel, SIlence, and Counterspell. Grounding totems, searing totems, and Tremor totems are recommended.
Step 14: Icewing should be downed by the zerg. Take your Five-Man team while they push to Stormpike without actually waiting for the Bunker to blow, and go through the Valley or through the Cliffs (Taking the Irondeep Passage). Pull Commander Duffy while the Alliance pours through Icewing Pass to fight the Horde Zerg. Kill him while they're not looking. Mana and Health Up yourselves, and charge the Stormpike Flag from behind. Most Alliance won't even see you.
Step 15. Wait for the Horde to arrive. If you're lucky and they're smart, dropping rank1 Magma totems and healing your AoErs will buy youenough time for the cavalry. All Alliance will be spawning in their entrance tunnel. So this is tougher than most things.
Step 16: Wait 5 minutes. Recall and turn in your items. Guse and Jeztor's Beacons should be placed in the Field of Strife. Summon Lok'Holar. Ping Bunker defenses in Dun Baldar. Consider Wolf Riders / War Reavers if needed.
Step 17: Perform the infamous Kodo-Paratooping. Fly in from the sky and enter the bunker. Clear just the top level. Cap the flag. Reinforcements should arrive. They will usually train the entire bunker on you. Curse at them. Try it again.
Step 18: Recap the Bunker two-three more times. If the Alliance won't let you have it, rush the aid station. They are fickle. They will spill out. Recap the North Bunker and ride up inside it.
Step 19: Wait 5 minutes. Set your magic and ranged support in the southwestern snowfield just after the Bridge. Take out the South Bunker's bowmen. This will make it easy. The Zerg will usually handle getting the cap on the South Bunker. You shouldn't need worry about this. Amaze yourself why they attack the non-combatant vendors that have about 25,000 health. This will be the third time Mountaineer Brodin is being pulled to the Stormpike Graveyard for death.
Step 20: Have a seat inside the South Bunker. Drink up and watch the Alliance pass you one-by-one to the dozen Horde sitting in the top level firing Direct Damage Spells and Ranged weaponry from the balcony. Wait five minutes.
Step 21: Charge past the Aid Station. Go up to their spawn Point. They will chase you. You're worth an Honor Kill. Most don't care about the 39 others pulling the NPC's. Pop a potion. Do what you can to outlast them and attack them as they spawn. You will die. The Aid station will be assaulted.
Step 22: Stay at Stormpike. Defend the Graveyard from the cliffjumpers at the Entrance Tunnel. More will join you when they are rezzed because they got impatient and pulled the South Bunker Marshal before the thing was destroyed. The aid station will convert, but you are having too much fun killing Alliance in 2's and 3's as they jump down to try to get Stormpike back.
Stonehearth/Snowfall will be assaulted. Do not mind this.
Step 23: Clear the NPC's, down that marshal. Yell at the zerg for being impatient. South Bunker caps 3 seconds after the Marshal dies. Tell them that when you enter the keep, not to leave because Vanndar will chase you out and reset to full life. Attack Vanndar
Step 24: Rez and yell at the zerg, asking who left the Keep and reset Vanndar.
Step 25: Down Vanndar. Get your medal and look: 73 minutes? Guh.. It should have taken 45...

Does BGinviter mod do anything about the idiots who queue in from WSG and don't leave their old raids so they can be invited? Tell me that it can! Pleaaaaaase!?
After today, I've decided to level out of the 20-29 bracket ASAP. Time to move on. Yepyep.

It has an option to whisper a message automatically to anyone who cannot beinvited to the raid for any reason, telling them to leave their groups so they can be invited to the raid.
After the next tick, it reinvites.
