Mae let her mace hit the floor with a tired THUMP, feeling slightly releaved to be back in stormwind, back in her home. Yes, the necroplis was still hovering outside, and there were sporatic attacks on the city, but it was still much quieter then the waves of chaos that kept spilling over Light Hope Chappel.

She stretched her back, pulled her hunting robe over her head. She scratched her stag-horns.. dern things always itched. She turned to lock the door, to keep out the random skelletons. She screamed.

There he stood, all four feet of him. His head was held high, and he was covered in soot. The silver of his beard was dull and grey, but the smile on his face was just as warm and loving as it had always been. "Well are ye jus' gonna stand there, or are ye' gonna let me come in and take me boots off woman?"

"GRALIN!" She screamed again, scooping him up off the ground and squeezing the Dwarf as tightly as she was able. Her tears and kisses fell like rain, washing away the soot off the mans face where they landed.

"Oy woman will ye' put me down! Yer makin' a spectical!" He said, but she could hear the laughter in his voice. It made her tears fall all the faster.

An hour later, the two of them sat by the fire, the stout, strong hearted dwarf planted firmly in the Night Elfs lap. Her arms were wrapped tightly around him, as if she feared to let him go. He was clean, dry, and dressed in his sleeping-robes.

"That ol' dragon thought he could get tha' best've yer husband, but I showed him that this priest be tougher then he looks!" He said, his head rested comfortably between her bosems. "What bothers me, woman, is ye' actualy thought I'd let'm!"

"Well how was I suposed to know! You were gone almost two months! You never stay away for that long with out sending some type of word..!" She said in an excited, although quiet, voice. She kissed him on the top of his bald head, ran her fingers through his beard. "Please don't do that to me again, Gralin.. I was worried."

"Aye love, I won'. Next time I run off, I'll make goodn' sure ta drop ye' a line before I go disapearin' on ya'."

Mae swatted at him, though the jesture was more playful then anything. She sighed, hugging him close to her. She was very glad to have him home, it made everything much easier to deal with, she could share her pain with him.

"Lets go to bed, love.. I have alot to tell you, but I'm just to tired right now.." She said, setting him on the floor before standing herself.

"Alright Maemae, les' go to bed." He said, taking his hand in hers and pulling her towards the bedroom door.

"Where in the devil's name have ye' been woman!? I woke up and ye' were gone! Ye' aint runnin' off on me wit' some Elf wit' bit swords now are ye'?" Gralin had his hands on his hips, and was tapping his foot.

The sight of him, foor foot tall and barrel chested, long silvery beard and no hair, all wraped up in a dressing gown, made her laugh. She couldn't help it, she loved him. Not to mention, it had been a wonderful day, by her standards anyway.

"Lets go in the kitichen, I'll make us up something to eat, and I'll tell you what I was off doing today." She set her heavy mace on the floor, leaned down, and kissed him atop that bald head that she loved so much.

She had spent her evening killing scourge, pushing their invasion back.. and she had done it alongside The Swordwalzers. At first she had focused on the task at hand, distroying as much of the scourge's forces as possible, distroying the crystals that were linking the floating necropolis' to the ground.

Yet the longer she worked side by side with the people from this guild, she felt herself fallin in time with them. Throwing heals to Kurohane, pouncing while Barke backstabbed.. shifting seamlessly from cat to bear to keep the monsters from attacking Kiraena.

Their easygoing manner hit close to home, and she found herself joking and laughing with them in a way she hadn't done since her days with Pinnacle.. and when they invited her to come back to their ship.. (they had a ship!) for a bit of relaxing afterwards, she felt her heart swell.

The were NICE, something she hadn't seen in a long time in anyone. They opened up and spoke with her freely, and listened and lauhed when she spoke. Yet, even the nicest evenings start quieting down.. and in the few minutes before everyone departed for their homes and inns and .. ships.. she found herself longnig for the past once more.

She had reverted to cat-form, and let her memories wander a bit.. yet, in her quiet contemplation, she found that it wasn't Pinnacle she longed for, but the feeling of family. She had always longed for it, which was why she held her old guild on such a high pedistool. Her guild was her family, the only one she had really ever known.

Sure, she had known her parents.. Her father was a war hero, a great warrior who had fought in every war since the sundering. Her mother was a Priestess in the Temple of Elune. They had raised her properly, and loved her very much. Her father sent her to moonglade when she was very, very young, only 50 years into her life.

It never bothered her that her parents had sent her away.. She had a gift. Even at that age, she had been able to shift willingly into cat-form, transformnig herself with out effort into a black panther kitten. Truthfully, she didn't blame them for disowning her.. she just missed them.

Her father had never forgiven her for not marring Night Elf.. for falling in love with a dwarf. She hadn't ment to, it just sort of.. happened. Anyone who met Gralin either loved him or hated him, and she had loved him since the begining.. back when his beard was short and his hair (when he had hair) was as red as fire. Her father had sent her back to Moonglade with a note in her hand that day...

She was no longer welcomed there.

It was why she clung so tightly to her memories of Pinnacle, and why, even thought the swordwalzers had been kind, she ended up sitting by herself, stearing at the stars.

But she liked them, these would be adventurers, and she vowed to get to know them better. Perhaps oneday she could call them family, though, to her it was a pipe dream.

Mae shook her thoughts of, and smiled down at her husband. He lie next to her in bed, snoring away like he always did. She kissed the very end of his nose, and sighed. "If nothing else, I am glad I chose you over duty.. no matter how horrible life may seem.. you make every single day worth while." Her voice was feather soft, and she ran her fingers through his long beard gently. The hair was nearly as soft as her own.

She sighed, a sigh of happyness, for her wonderful day, and her wonderfully dwarven husband. She let her head fall to the pillow, and within moments, she drifted into a dream-filled sleep.

Mae swung her mace, it landing firmly against the skull of the nearest skelleton with a sickining crack. The thing growled at her, and she returned the gesture, dropping to all fours and sprouting thick brown fur. A large bear paw connected with its ribcage, causing several ribs to fly off with the powerful swing. The rest of it collaped infront of her, and she roared in triumph. She bared her fangs and swung around, large furry hind quarters knocking the zombie that had snuck up beind her atleast five feet to her left.

She swiped her paws again and again, bit chunks of rotted flesh off the creature. It screamed, but there was nothing but anger behind the noice. She tore its throat out with her teeth and spat it on the ground, the green ichor spattering on the ground and in her fur. It too crumbled at her feet, and she lifted her head to release a roar that echoed across the dieing land.

She shrank. A wave of silky midnight fur overtook the already present brown bear fur. Her ears shrank, paws.. her claws became retractable, and her tail langthened. She snarled, her panther throat not alowing her to give off the roar that she had been able to as a bear.

She let herself meld with the shadows around her, spying another undead horror come around the corner. She lowered herself to the ground, stalking, reading herself for the pounce. She silently crept around it, positioning herself to its back, so that she could grab at its neck with her teeth.

An arrow tore through the flesh of the disgusting creature, pulling its attention towards the direction that it had come. The creature skittered towards the general direction of the arrow, head bobbing, mouth dripping. Mae curled her body, and sprung, catching its weak point. As she wrapped her mouth around the back of its throat, she caught out of the corner of her eye the daggers of three different rogues, all emplanting themselves into the creatures spine.

Something hit the creature upside the head, a mace maybe. Mae couldn't tell, the impact of it sent her reeling, and she released her jaws. She stretched, rising up on two paws. Paws..feet, she had humanoid feet. The abyss fur receded, revealing soft pink-toned skin. Long white hair flew about a womanly figure. A hand itched at stag antlers, and her tail had all but vanished. She was a Night Elf again. She pulled at the natural energies around her, and let loose its wrath from her hands. The green energy slammed into the creature. The crack of golden lightning from the sky caused her to jump. The undead cried out before it crumpled to the ground.

"DRAGON APPROCHING, EVERYONE MOVE!" A voice called out, and she let forth a sharp whistle, calling Koda, her riding saber, to her side. Quickly she mounted him, and they set off, heading towards Neitherguard with the rest of her hunting party, the Swordwalzers. She looked at them, smiled at them. They were all, her included, covered in green goo from head to boot...

It was time for a hot bath and a stiff drink.
