First off, I'm a fairly casual player with a tendency to alt myself into oblivion. I've done little pvp, no raiding, and have a handful of characters 40+ on a few different realms (highest is a 67 warlock). I've never rolled on a pvp server and would like your opinions on Twisting Nether for jumping into the deep end.
I'd probably go Alliance since my mains are currently Horde. I'd be looking for a guild that can deal with casual members (a "family" style guild would be more my speed -- mutual aid and camaraderie, low drama, etc.). Can and will RP, but that isn't my focus.
Thanks in advance.

Not to be a douche, but why roll on an RP server? There are tons of PvP servers for people who do not care to RP.
Please don't think of this as a slam. It just strikes me how incongruous your intro question is...

No, it's a fair statement. I probably should have been clearer, since I have played on RP realms and understand (actually, support) the sentiment you are expressing. You misunderstand, I don't "not care to RP".
What I mean is that I will:
- have a character background with which to RP (long time pencil-and-paper RPGer here)
- RP at all times in /s and /y
- participate from time to time in RP events
- ask RP offenders to knock it off
Since I have limited play time, I also want to concentrate on leveling and in-game goals, ergo RP for the sake of RP isn't a primary focus. That said, even that will be RP'ed.
Sorry, I know better than to salt that RP wound in y'all. :) In this context, I'd still appreciate opinions on the realm.

Alliance-side, you can probably find plenty of casual RP and avoid the drama. I cannot speak for a wide variety of guilds since I only have first-hand experience with a few. Generally, I've found most of the RP community to be friendly and open to new people.
There are some solid guilds and if you have an idea of what type environment you want, I could point you in a few directions. We have all-dwarf, human, draenei, and Nelf guilds, we have goody-goodies and hardened vets, we have 3rd factions, and at least one evil guild I can think of off the top of my head.
If you want to roll up a quick alt, poke your nose into the /pastaexpress chat channel and ask more of the people there.

Ok then, welcome. But roll Horde...having to interact with gnomes is icky.
