"Keep at it, the crystal is weakening!"

The sounds of battle fill the air in the Eastern Plaguelands as a handful of the Dark Lady's elite fight off the legions of the Lich King's shock troops. The area is littered with the now-lifeless bodies of the Scourge attack force, broken bones of skeletal invaders and rotted corpses of zombified ghouls all that remain of the Necrotic Crystal's defenses. In a thunderous flash of dark energy, more Scourge troops are summoned in to defend the crystal, the only weakness to the Necropolis hovering high above.

"Be wary, more of the damned minions have arrived!" At the head of the group, Keraph Xalascent, Dark Warlord of Infection, barks out commands between the waves of enemies. As the newest group becomes aware of the Forsaken attackers, Keraph focuses on a nearby ghoul, and moves to attack. As he charges, he spins backwards and slams the flat of his demonic blade the skull of the ghoul, stunning it long enough for him to land a deep blow to its midsection. As he continues to fight the foul creature, another ghoul takes notice and attempts to ambush him. Noticing this new threat, Keraph pulls a few steps back, giving him enough space to deal with both creatures at once. In a quick series of sweeping strikes, both ghouls fall limp to the ground. As the warrior kneels down to search the corpses for the necrotic runes that would be necessary for the next phase of the attack, a group of skeletal horrors assault him. Caught off guard and unable to defend himself, Keraph feels the dull sting of their sharp claws rip at his rotted flesh.

As one of the horrors lifts its scythe-like arm to strike, it is shattered by a forceful bolt of pure shadow. A few yards away, the warlock Gavril grins a jawless grin as he focuses the shadows into another deadly bollt. As Keraph regains his defenses, Gavril continues to slam the horros with the power of shadow, and the two of them quickly make short work of the remaining horrors. With each death, the necrotic crystal weakens, its defenses failing. But just as the last of the skeletal creatures fall, more that their place in a flash of darkness.

"Any time now, Baroness." Keraph spits as he prepares himself for the next wave of foes, his sword tight in his grip. He looks back towards his allies, and his eyes meet with hers.

A curve of the lips, forming a twisted smile. A grip of the menacing scythe, blade dripping with demonic power. Her shadow moves, its wicked eyes glow as it flexes its shackled arms. Her body quakes with ecstasy as she begins to channel a spell, the raw fel magic coursing through her provides a euphoric pleasure. As fire rains down from the sky, she laughs, watching the pathetic Scourge cry out as they burn and die. The Dark Baroness, Nadea, smiles as she finishes her spell, content at the damage she has done. She begins to focus her power on single targets, picking off the few that survived her shower of flame. By now, the crystal is cracked considerably.

Still more of the mindless Scourge pour forth, and as the three Forsaken fight them off in swarms, two more slide in and out of the shadows, placing precise strikes on vital locations and bringing the minions down with stealth and swiftness. In the rare occasion that they make themselves visible for over a second, Hyte von Dyne and Contaminator the Corruptor dart from target to target, slicing thier foes with deadly precision. Bodies drop left and right, and all that remains is a shadow that quickly dissipates into the night. The two rogues swiftly work themselves back to the main group, slaying everytihng along the way, and the strike force of Infection completes itself.

In the distance, an orc battles the ghouls as well, and many lay dead at his feet. However, he has bitten off more than he can chew, and is surroundead by the undead fiends. He sees the group of Forsaken, fighting the same battle as he, and cries out for assistance. Surely his battle bretheren would aid him, and they would wipe out this menace together. He watches in horror as his would-be allies point at him, laughing as he fights a losing battle. Keraph sighs with disinterest, and nods to something in the distance. The remaining Forsaken turn their backs on the orc as he falls, and the last thing he feels before he dies is not the pain of battle, but the sting of betrayal.

The Forsaken turn to watch a sight much more interesting. A human, paladin by the looks of him and the way he fights, wages a holy battle against the cursed minions of darkness. As he fights the foul undead creatures, he is knocked down, caught off guard by an attacker he did not see. His weapon, a mighty battlehammer, is thrown yards away, and his armor has been cracked considerably. Knowing that his time has come, he kneels down and prays, accepting his end with honor and nobility. As the ghouls close in on their easy prey, they are cleaved asunder by the shadowy strike of a greatsword. His blade still glowing with the dark energy of fel power, Keraph extends his hand to the fallen paladin, a soft, sincere smile on his face.

"Thank the Light, I though I was done for! You, sir knight, have my eternal gratitude. I had once thought that all of the foul undead were evil and hostile towards our race, but now I know that there are those of you who still wish to aid this world, but are stopped only by the prejudice and ignorance of the very Alliance I serve. I will spread the word that those of you we have forsaken can be our allies, and perhaps peace can once aga--" The overjoyed paladin is cut short as he finds himself without breath. Looking down, he sees the blade that has pierced through his back, and he looks back up to the one who saved him, a confused look on his face. The soft smile that the undead knight once wore is replaced with a viscious grin, and he laughs menacingly as the paladin falls lifeless to the ground. Behind him, Hyte grins are he retrieves his blade and wipes the blood off of it. They turn back towards the badly damaged crystal, and in a token effort, deal the finishing blow to it.

The shadow surrounding the crystal is lifted, and revealed are the Scourge engineers, deep in chant as they attempt to hold the broken crystal together. The group of Forsaken approach the crystal, and unleashin the power of the necrotic runes, unveil the engineers to show their true forms: dark, menacing shadows of doom.

"FOOLS! YOU SHALL INTERFERE WITH THE WILL OF THE LICH KING NO LONGER. PREPARE TO FALL, AND SERVE HIM ONCE AGAIN!"

"I think not, mindless tool of the fallen prince. You are the one who shall fall, and with you, the necropolis above. The will of the Forsaken shall never again be shackled to him again!" Keraph lets forth a sharp whistle, and from the darkness of the woods, many figures step forth. Forsaken soldiers, all bearing the tabard of Infection, ready themselves for battle. Mages begin to focus their energy, ready to manipulate the arcane and the elements at will. Warriors, the knights of the Lady, draw their weapons and prepare to serve Her will again. A detachment of leatherbound rogues dissapear in the blink of an eye. Demons growl and bare their strength to the enemy, their masters not far behind. Jergal Seneschal, High Priest of the Cult of Sylvanas, says a few prayers, and the priests below him do the same. As the full might of Infection displays itself, the shadows hesitate, then gather all the dark power they can, and charge forth. The army of Forsaken await Keraph's command, ready to destroy every last servant of the Lich King in the world. Keraph raises his sword, and points to the charging enemies, grinning as he readies himself for battle.

"Slay them all."

SITUATIONAL REPORT: EASTERN PLAGUELANDS

The Scourge invasion in the Eastern Plaguelands has, for the time being, been halted. Every necropolis has fallen, and the servants of the Lich King have fled to their bastions of safety. However, it will only be a matter of time before they are reinforced, and begin anew their attacks. Trust that Infection will be waiting for them.

For now, we move on the Blasted Lands. I have recieved confirmed reports of Scourge activity there, and our forces have already mobilized to take action. I will be commanding a much smaller force, as I have foudn the defenses of the Scourge to be....lacking. The rest of Infection will maintain regular patrols, and be ready to move for attack wherever they are needed.

I humbly submit this report to you, my Queen and Saviour.

Power to the Forsaken, and Power to the Dark Lady!
