that's right. I saw Lovley. Not Lovely. But Lovley. Thank you Lovely, for not spelling your name all jacked up when it was taken on CC and picking something else. and thanks to everyone else who sucked it up when your name was taken and picked something else instead of coming up with some horrible mishmash of vowels and consonants that make my eyes want to bleed and roll into the back of my head.

You're welcome.

Tillna Frieya and Shigana, all oddly free.

Lovely

I saw her too. She's not as pretty as me. heh.

The funny thing is, when I first came to Twisting Nether, my human paladin was supposed to be named "Beauty," like from Beauty and the beast. I was going to try and find a tauren that would RP a storyline with me along those lines.

Beauty was taken, and I'm kinda glad. Because in retrospect, that would have been kinda lame.

I took the name Lovely because of an inside joke between my wife and I. It involves Nicole Kidman, and a mutant George Michael with a head instead of his right hand. And lots of drugs, apparently.

Yes, my wife hates it. hehe.

Alana

yeah that would have been lame!

so who was taking the drugs?

Villayna

Morticia was taken.

Thank god.

Emmons
04-22-2008, 12:05 PM
I rolled on TN with a few friends I used to play Dystopia and CS with. Here's how the exchange yet:

Me: So what do I name my rogue?
Tekebob: I'm naming mine Tekebob.
Lupraki: I'm naming mine Lapraki.
Me: I still don't know what to name it.
Lupraki: How about Porkchopsandwichez?
Me: I'm using your last name.

And thus, Emmons was born.

Lovely

I came up with Hellista one night while drinking. It was like "Drrr....I'll take Hell. Thats evil. And add -ista to it. I'm a fricking genius!!!"

My wife makes fun of that name so much, but I couldn't call her anything else now if I even wanted.

i like Mortica better than Morticia. Abric has a fire mage named Heartha which i thought was cute and clever - both of which he is not ZING. i have a dwarf priestess who is an alchemist named Brewhilda. i named my shaman Shinwa because it's japanese for myth or legend and shaman give off that kind of vibe to me. and my warlock Vladeva after Vlad the Impaler, because originally she was going to be a cannible.

i noticed Lovely's running theme is 'my wife hates it.'

Lovely: What do you think of X name?
Lovely's Wife: Oh I like that.
Lovely: What do you think of Y name?
Lovely's Wife: I hate it.
Lovely: Y it is.

Oddly enough, Xaraphyne was free.

And it still is on every other server. CRAZY!

I hate coming up with character names. It's the hardest part of making a new character.

My first WoW char was a nelf hunter named Lanista. Latin or something for something to do with inciting animals or riots to attack, if I remember right.

Syreena was from RP on AOL, and when I created that name, Serena was taken, so I just played with the spelling. I have no problem with "creative" misspellings of names if the name word doesn't mean anything else. If it's an actual word that's misspelled as a name, then it bugs me. Something like Stabbirouge would make my eyes bleed.

Asheerah was....I don't know. Something I made up when someone sneezed?

Alana
04-22-2008, 02:21 PM
at least Syreena looks normal. it's not a real word completely butchered.

i was unaware there was a term for inciting animals to riot. lol.

You do realize you just gave me something to torment your druid with for the rest of time as Anaie.... now to make a "Bless ya!" macro...

Syreena
04-22-2008, 02:22 PM
Heh, I don't remember how I found it. I often look up words in other languages to make up fantasy names. I figured that would be a good one for a hunter. Until I kept getting tells "Why is your character named after a sleeping drug?" "That's Lunesta!!!!" Grrr.

Anaie--Ash would just ignore you. She's a stick in the mud. :P

"Stabbirouge" reminds me of names like "Shanksgiving," "Whambulance," and "Shankenstein." They make me weepy.

Oddly, though, less weepy than "Lovley."

Lasc needs his Death Knight to be named Viagramous... unless there is some type of potency drug out there instead...

Sifar
04-22-2008, 02:33 PM
Sifar = WoW random name generator - Sifa + R
Lightale = dwarven paladin, duh!
Demicina = demonic warlock + little gnome

My husband gets creative in a different way:
Egarots = Storage, backwards
Nugtohs = Shotgun, backwards :D

Vyraal
04-22-2008, 02:52 PM
Originally Vyraal was going to be Drago but since it was taken I glanced at FFXII Strategy guide and tried all the dragonkin names till a few fit then picked, Vyraal was the winner.

Although it is not pronounced Viral its more like Vah-Rhal, althought I was pointed out a joke during a RFK run. Viral- name Infection- guild. lol

I actually saw this Lovley person as well and took a screen cap.

Nows I has to finds it.

Alphaeus
04-22-2008, 02:55 PM
"Okay, okay, guys, I've got WoW open, I'm making my first character - he's a Forsaken priest, he looks freaking WICKED! But Mordad's taken! D= OMG, what do I name him!?"

"Name him after me!"

"Okay!"

And thus, the original Alphaeus was born.
Deleted 12 levels and 2 months later, to be re-rolled blood elf for the Brigade.

Also.
Lovely... Lovley... it's possible they mispelled it and think they have the real spelling of Lovely... >_>

I just want to think that people are talking about me.

Yatokth
04-22-2008, 03:20 PM
I pulled Yatokth out of my ass. True story.

Actually, it was originally Yazokth, but when I got the actual game instead of the trial, I forgot my old account and made a new one, so I knew Yazokth would be taken. So I changed it to a t.

There is no other Yatokth in the game, obviously. XP

Shanksgiving? LMAO. I'm going to randomly use that in some obscure way at an undefined point in time. For sure.

Rand_Shea
04-22-2008, 05:00 PM
I wanted my hunter named 'Rand', but... I guess there's some character in Wheel of Time with the same name, and it's short for 'Randy', so for some reason or another... it was taken. Kinda ticked me off, because I -thought- it was just a name I made up. After hemming and hawing, and realizing spaces don't exist in names... I just mashed his first and last name together.

It's Ranadarus because it was kind of annoying that people kept thinking his name was "Randshee" or "Randshee uh" and never remembering that 'Rand' and 'Shea' are separated, so I pulled an Elek and changed it to his 'true' name, which I made up shortly after starting to play on TN.

I don't think there are any other 'Randshea's or 'Ranadarus's out there.

Dyiana... I wanted 'Diana', but that was taken, so I added a y. Apparently I lucked out on the name here, since there's 15 other Dyianas on different servers.

As for my other characters... only other one I had trouble with was 'Chayanne', whom I originally wanted to be named 'Cheyenne', since she's a Tauren, and I like the name.

Islefr
04-22-2008, 08:09 PM
I got the name "Islefr" a few years back when I first started doing forum-based RPs. I had been sitting there, wondering what to name my character for a good while, and then my cousin found this Icelandic name generator, and just started tossing out the names. Islefr happened to be the one I liked, and so far, I've never run across anybody else with the name. It also helps that whenever I test a character on a new server, I name him Islefr, just so I can keep being the only one.

Good thing you spelled it differently, or you'd be finding your name in an awful lot of threads! :D

Abric
04-23-2008, 10:24 AM
I still got Heartha. I love my gnome... because she's neither creepy, sexual, idiotic, or annoyingly chipper.

Just your stereotype inquisitive gnome with the ability to throw fireballs at people; just to see what happens. With a Murky.

And Syreena, don't forget Syrena out there.

A lot of Native American tribe names end in -et up in the northeast part of the nation. My first character ever was Tenmayet, a warrior; I have Ninigret, a lowbie hunter. Also, Ayakuchale, a lowbie druid. If I ever got a chance to play I might give them some breathing room, but as it is now I log in once a week. Rar.

Aetheril
04-23-2008, 11:47 AM
Aetheril was a quickie...I really just start threwing stuff together, and kind of thought...okay, what are the next couple letters I should tack on? I decided to end it with an "il" so it sounded vaguely Tolkein-elvish...i.e. Elendil, Imrahil...etc...

There are only two other Aetheril's out there, and they're both Nelves...shit, and I thought I'd come up with a unique idea.

Thankfully, neither of them have levelled in months. I feel satisfied. It is a good day for my naming pride!

Syreena

There's also an Asherah. I think it's a troll mage if I remember correctly.

Anthek
04-23-2008, 12:00 PM
There's only one other Anthek, and it's the original one that's a shaman I made on Steamwheedle Cartel.

It was something random I came up with while trying to retain a Native American flavor to it, and I was pleasantly satisfied with the sound of it.

As for my warrior, obviously "Fallacy" is not his real name, but it suited him when he couldn't remember it.

Faelen
04-23-2008, 12:09 PM
'Faelen' has got to be one of the more un-original names one can think of, which is merely just a literal play on the word 'fallen', but lucky for me, when it comes to Forsaken, it fits the character well. He didn't 'have' a name, or an identity when he was 'reborn', so being called 'fallen', or Faelen works. *chuckles* Since then, however, I've put thought into names that I create, based off of the lore, etc.

(And as a note, I rolled on TN as a semi-new online RPer. So it's to be forgiven. ^.-)

Lets see...

Cynadikka pronounced ( Sci-nad-ick-ah ) was something i made up trying to put cyanide in there but just fiddled around with the letters to make something else. Although everyone pronounces it ( Sin-ah-dick-ah ) hence the my nickname Cyna :P

Vorkal was my original first name to my dwarf Ruinhammer. Hiiii Sifar! Again just me trying to make a neato sounding name and gave it to my Druid when i rerolled.

Vorka is just minus the L because she's his sister :D

Ummm oh yea and Ifa my shammy is named after a african god i think? I forget which one. Me and the rest of the Trolls in Troll Sweat Vendor (all irl familia an friends) wanted to have Trolly sounding names sorta without having to take the time to think em up :P and still make em all similiar in some odd vague way hehe.

As a lurker on this forum, I had read a lot of "Lovely" posts before re-rolling on TN.

First PUG I had was with "Lovley" - she is the best healadin I have tanked with, and one of the few nice and mature people I have PUG'd with. We have now run every instance from RFC to ULD together at one point or another.

Not adding anything to the conversation, just saying I have had a bunch of runs with Lovley and every time it makes me think of TNG and Lovely.

Not an RP'er - but had a really cute "attempt" at RP when I first met her. She announced that "She might try some RP" and this ensued:

in /s:
"Lovley walks forward toward the Scarlet Monastery"
"Lovley sees evil looking monks and warriors"
Me in pst: ((Lov, you don't have to announce what you are doing, you can just do it.))
Lov in pst: ((Oh, I have never RP'd before - I thought you wanted others to know what you are doing?))
Me: ((You do, but I can see what you are doing, I'm standing next to you))
Lov: ((OH, I get it))

Needless to say, we started into SM right after that, no more RP for Lov, but she has a standing invitation from me if she ever wants to try it again. This was pretty early on in my TN life and I had not done much RP (still haven't), but it was pretty funny/cute.

Funny. Even though I'm in no place to say that since I don't RP. In fact, why am I even browsing these forums?
Oh yeah, same reason I rolled on TN. Most people on PvP servers are idiots.

But I digress...

Lovley is a dumb name if you ask me. I guess it's ok since Lovely was taken... but still, just looks like a misspelling to me. Meh.
